Job Description:
The Solutions Development Manager will be responsible for providing technical direction to the onshore, offshore, and nearshore development teams and liaising with stakeholders to deliver robust, sound insurance solutions that support and grow the business. The Solutions Development Manager will need to have the ability to think holistically about a system composed of diverse technologies.
This is a hands-on position that could require 60% or more time spent on developing/designing solutions, and doing research/providing expertise on evaluating platforms for the Specialty Group business. This position also entails being the SME on Carrier Integrations. This position is a full-time position that can be based anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, with a very competitive base salary, lucrative benefits such as commuter allowance and comprehensive healthcare coverage, and paid time off.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction and guidance to onshore/offshore/nearshore team(s)
- Leading a team of developers utilizing various development platforms including Duck Creek, C# .Net, and SCRUM
- Able to work closely with the offshore/nearshore QA team and be responsible for delivering solutions that have gone thru rigorous QA testing.
- Liaise with all stakeholders to integrate current/pending systems with multiple vendors; Ability to translate business requirements into viable/scalable/robust solutions
- Manage and hire top development resources (staff, and consultants) to ensure consistent development and delivery of technical solutions
- Develop, enhance, and champion software application tools, modules, etc., in accordance with standardized architectural, testing, and documentation specifications.
- Oversee development, design, and conduct code reviews with the development team(s)
- Provide feedback on testing (QA, Integration, UAT), end-user training / documentation efforts
- Maintain custom applications/code modules functionality through vendor architecture / API changes and enhancements based on standardized application lifecycle management processes
- Responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of insurance integration solutions.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Business Partners in designing solutions for the business and in compliance with enterprise architectural standards.
- An integral member of project teams, responsible for the delivery of application architecture and design deliverables.
- Collaborate with the BA's and Scrum Master to structure the workstreams and project plan for delivery of the solution
- Act as a development lead/mentor to evangelize to the development team architectural principles, industry best practices (branching, coding, patterns, unit testing, automated testing, CI, etc.…), reuse of assets in the creation of solutions.
- Support implementation of solutions by analyzing current system environments and infrastructures, and develop implementation plans and verification procedures and ensure their execution to deliver the successful installation of systems hardware/software.
- Engage when needed in maintenance and support activities being performed, as well as routine analysis and evaluation on resource requirements necessary to maintain and/or expand service level.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in related field preferred. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, an equivalent amount of relevant experience will be considered.

- SQL Server;
- Data Lake/Data Warehouse - Nice to have
- Cloud (Azure, AWS)
- 5+ years Insurance industry experience a must
- 7+ years in software development, architecture and design
- 5+ years of Duck Creek work experience
- 5+ years DOT NET, XML, REST, Web Services, MVC
