About the job
This position is needed to build, operate and maintain Twilio's internal Number Intelligence and Billing services that support Twilio's core offerings such as Messaging, Voice, Verify, and others.
As a Software Engineer on the team, you will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, engineering managers, and fellow engineers to design and deliver new features for Messaging Routing products. Your work will focus on automating manual processes, developing operational tools, and implementing new capabilities that enhance both internal systems and customer-facing applications.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Design, develop, test and deploy features alongside a small, distributed collaborative team to build highly scalable and available services
Collaborate other cross-functional teams, product managers, designers, and engineers to build compelling user experiences for developers and end users
Ensure quality by writing unit, integration, and load tests, as well as conducting thorough code reviews.
Work independently to troubleshoot/determine resolution for issues in your team's domain
Build new features for both internal and customer-facing applications to ensure seamless integration and great customer experience

Required:
1+ years of professional software engineering experience (including internships)
Solid Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems
Familiarity with software development lifecycle best practices, such as testing, code quality, and DevOps standards
Proficiency in at least one programming language, web stack, and framework
Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly propose and discuss ideas, share implementation details, and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders — we work as one team, no one flies solo!
Desired:
Experience working with Java frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Dropwizard.
Experience working with or strong understanding of agile/scrum methodologies
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience documenting your solutions and proposals
Location
This role will be remote from Estonia or based in our Tallinn, Estonia office.
Travel
