Our platform is an essential piece of the daily work for machine learning engineers, from academic research institutions like FAIR and UC Berkeley to massive enterprise teams including iRobot, OpenAI, Toyota Research Institute, Samsung, NVIDIA, Salesforce, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Lyft, and more.

As a Software Engineer in charge of engineering productivity, you’ll build and maintain the key tools and systems that the engineering team uses to build Weights & Biases. You’ll partner closely with engineers around the organization to understand our various development workflows and brainstorm improvements. This is a brand new role, and as such you will have the opportunity to own the overall strategy, vision, and roadmap for how to boost engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research with engineers to understand their needs and develop the roadmap for internal tools and systems.

  • Improve build safety and speed by optimizing existing build processes and implementing new tools and methodologies.

  • Ensure the reliability and availability of our Continuous Integration and build pipelines.

  • Develop and maintain solutions for both local and remote development environments.

  • Design and implement new tools for production and development deployments.

  • Leverage GenAI tools to enhance the engineering workflow, automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency.

What we're looking for (Requirements)

  • A degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience/qualification.

  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 1 year of experience building tools for developers.

  • Strong empathy for developers with a keen interest in understanding and addressing their challenges.

  • A self-driven attitude with a desire to find the path to greatest impact.

  • Strong interest in new technologies and a passion for staying abreast of the latest advancements in developer tools.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with Go and git/github

Why join us?

  • Top-tier machine learning teams rely on our tools for their daily work at companies including OpenAI, Toyota Research Institute, Lyft, Samsung, and Pandora.

  • You'll never stop learning. This role gives you first-hand experience talking with leading researchers in the field, understanding their problems, and directly shaping the product direction.

  • Our experienced founding team has successfully built and sold ML tools in the past at Figure Eight. Their deep knowledge of our industry, empathy for our users, and skillful management is driving W&B to success.

  • Customers genuinely benefit from our tool. Here's a quote from Wojciech Zaremba, Cofounder and Robotics Lead, OpenAI: 'W&B allows to scale up insights from a single researcher to the entire team, and from a single machine to hundreds of them.'

  • Join a collaborative and innovative work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
