The Work

We’re seeking a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented professional to support our operations team and help drive efficiency across key processes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys juggling multiple priorities, and takes pride in delivering excellent results.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the operations team to create an exceptional and streamlined onboarding experience for new hires.

  • Oversee the setup email inbox, ensuring all inquiries are addressed swiftly and organized for maximum efficiency.

  • Lead the initial review of incoming setups, ensuring accuracy and timely progression through Check.

  • Verify access to critical reports and data, guaranteeing that all information required for payroll implementation is readily available.

  • Establish clear timelines and delegate tasks to both outsourced teams and full-time employees to drive progress.

  • Actively monitor and follow up on setups in the blocked queue, ensuring quick resolutions and continuous workflow.

  • Identify and address gaps in implementation processes and tools, recommending improvements to boost overall efficiency.

  • Contribute to key cross-functional payroll initiatives, playing an active role in enhancing payroll operations across the company.

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:

  • At least 2 years of experience in an administrative or support role (payroll experience preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and G Suite

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and task management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a customer-focused approach

  • Friendly, professional, and eager to collaborate across teams (Sales, Risk, Partner Success, R&D)

  • Team player with a natural desire to help others succeed

What we offer:

For full-time employees, Check offers company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term/long-term disability, and basic life insurance coverage, effective on their first day of work. We also provide stock options, flexible PTO and sick leave, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents, flexible return-to-work, 9 annual holidays, a 401k retirement plan, and a $100 monthly stipend for home internet and mobile phone expenses.

The actual annual salary for this role depends on each candidate’s experience, qualifications, and work location. To ensure fairness with our existing team's compensation, most new hires are placed near the midpoint of this range.

  • The expected hourly rate in San Francisco, NYC, LA, and Seattle is between $18 and $20.

  • The expected hourly rate for all other locations is between $15 and $18.
