The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation (SGBFF) works to build a more equal and resilient world. We bring people together to support each other through four initiatives: LeanIn.Org, LeanInGirls.Org, OptionB.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program.

Our Research & Education team is seeking a Senior Writing Manager to lead the development of engaging, high-impact reports, educational content, and other resources that support our mission and programs. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful and versatile writer who can distill complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives and who is passionate about storytelling as a tool for social change.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the writing and development of flagship reports, educational guides, articles, and other key content across SGBFF’s program areas.

  • Translate complex research and data into clear, accessible language and actionable insights for broad public and professional audiences.

  • Edit and elevate a wide range of materials—including discussion guides, facilitator resources, marketing materials, and website content—to ensure clarity, consistency, and tone alignment.

  • Collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief to shape editorial strategy and build publishing calendars that align with our impact goals.

  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure all content supports program and organizational objectives.

  • Champion diversity and inclusion in all written content, helping ensure our work reflects a broad range of voices and lived experiences.

What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of professional writing experience, with at least 3–5 years in journalism, editorial, or long-form public writing on complex topics.

  • A demonstrated ability to write for general audiences about research-heavy or data-informed subjects (e.g., gender equity, leadership, social justice).

  • Sharp editorial instincts and strong project management skills—you can manage timelines, track feedback, and stay flexible as timelines change to keep collaborative writing projects on track.

  • A thoughtful communicator who thrives on collaboration and welcomes feedback as part of a creative and iterative process.

  • Experience writing about women's issues, equity, and inclusion is a strong plus.

  • An excitement for the nuances of data and a demonstrated patience with data interpretation are also strong pluses..

  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and SGBFF’s mission to build a more equal and resilient world.

What We Will Offer You

  • The base salary for this role varies by location: $144,000-$147,60 (National) / $160,000-$164,000 (Bay Area/New York Metro), with the final amount depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, full-time employees are also eligible for a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of their annual salary.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with 4% employer match, unlimited PTO, and more!

  • A remote-first work environment with flexible scheduling.

  • A mission-driven team that values inclusion, collaboration, and growth.

Important Information

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis - early submission is encouraged. Cover letters are highly encouraged as well.

  • Please submit a piece of long-form writing (e.g., article, research report, journal piece, or similar) that demonstrates your ability to translate complex information for a broad audience. Include a brief note (2–3 sentences) explaining how you developed the topic, found your sources, and approached the writing and editing process. Submissions that demonstrate an ability to write for general audiences about research-heavy or data-informed subjects are a plus.

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

  • If your application is a good match, our team will reach out to schedule an interview. If you're no longer under consideration, you'll receive an email update. We truly appreciate your interest, and due to the high application volume, we may not be able to personally communicate with everyone who applies.
