Senior VFX Artist
Scopely is looking for a talented and experienced VFX Artist to join our team in the UK, Ireland or Portugal on a remote basis or Barcelona on a hybrid basis working 3 days a week from the hub.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, Strategy/MMO title, creating a team of talented and passionate game makers to join us on this exciting journey!
What You’ll Do
As a valued member of the art team you will play an integral part in communicating the Art Director’s vision through the creation of captivating visual effects and beautiful lighting that add depth, tone and enjoyment to the player experience. You will bring both creative and technical viewpoints that enable you to bridge the gap between disciplines, playing a vital role in delivering a high quality game. The ideal candidate is passionate about Visual Effects, processes and has a strong artistic eye.
Create and implement high-quality visual effects that align with the artistic vision and technical requirements of the project
Work closely with both art and design to create stylised VFX that support gameplay needs
Working with Level Designers/Directors to identify VFX requirements across the game
Creating and implementing a wide variety of VFX for both Characters and environments
Creation and implement of in-game lighting for levels and 3D menu scenes
Ensure that the VFX are valid for gameplay and optimized for performance
Create documents and knowledge share
What We’re Looking For
You will be able to demonstrate a portfolio/showreel detailing your experience with real time VFX and lighting for game development in Unity
Robust understanding of VFX principals with a skilled sense of timing and staging
Strong understanding of physical shaders and their interaction with lighting and post FX
Excellent working knowledge of VFX tools including Houdini and Maya, as well as an appreciation and understanding of the technical constraints within a game engine
A comprehension of shaders and rendering pipelines as they relate to games VFX
Strong understanding of lighting and colour theory
Experience working in real-time lighting workflows using a combination of baked and real-time lighting models
Working knowledge of digital content creations tools (ie. Maya, Photoshop, Substance)
Working knowledge of asset management tools (ie. GIT & Perforce)
Experience with PBR materials and shader creation
Bonus Points
Familiarity working and developing on a multi-platform project
Experience of developing games or game prototypes in Unity
