Apply for this position

Octopus Deploy sets the standard for Continuous Delivery, empowering software teams to deliver value in an agile way. Over 4,000 organizations globally –  including Ubisoft, Xero, Stack Overflow, NASA, and Disney – rely on our Continuous Delivery, GitOps, and release orchestration solutions.

Founded in Australia in 2012, our team of over 270 Octonauts now spans the globe. We combine high growth and big ambitions with a sustainable, balanced working environment. Our revenue has grown consistently between 30–50% every year for the past 8 years, and we’ve been profitable for 10 out of the past 11 years.

We’ve been remote-first since 2015 and work with an uncommon level of transparency. You can read our public handbook to learn how we work. We have a transparent approach to compensation that ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same, with well-defined career pathways. We foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-trust environment. We leave our job titles at the door and focus on doing what’s best for our customers and team. Our leaders never shy away from answering the tough questions at our all-hands calls or in 1:1s. We conduct interviews and onboarding virtually as part of being a remote-first company.

As a Technical Product Marketer, you will be responsible for building Octopus’s story for Continuous Delivery at Scale and driving market leadership in the DevOps space, with the mission to win more enterprise business by effectively reaching and explaining the value of our solution to prospects and existing customers. To achieve this mission, the Product Marketer is an integral part of the Marketing organization, working closely with other marketing functions, such as DevRel, Digital Marketing, and Field Marketing. In this role, you will also collaborate cross-functionally with the Product & Engineering and the Revenue teams on Go-To-Market strategy and execution, and you will have end-to-end ownership of high-impact product launches.

This role is a remote position based in the US but will require travelling globally. As we work in a global organization, some meetings will be outside of the local work hours. To help our teams work together effectively, this remote position requires you to be located on the West Coast (PST/MST) of the United States.

What you'll do

  • Research and develop insights about how our customers and specific personas think about commercial and DIY options to guide our GTM strategy.

  • Develop Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies for capabilities that target central IT, business units, and individual teams within an enterprise.

  • Create clear and straightforward messaging that emphasizes Octopus’s business value (tied to time, money, and risk) to different audiences in large companies — including decision makers, influencers, and users.

  • Create persuasive marketing materials, such as articles, videos, demos, press releases, and case studies, independently and with support from DevRel and product teams to highlight the unique benefits and return on investment (ROI).

  • Collaborate with Digital and Field Marketing to develop demand and lead generation campaigns and track their success using pipeline, win rates, and adoption metrics.

  • Work with the Product and Sales teams as we iterate on the product roadmap and sales campaigns, incorporating customer insights.

  • Lead regular briefings with industry analysts (Gartner, Forrester) and media to influence vendor ratings and create publicity opportunities.

Your background

  • Multiple years of experience in enterprise software product marketing, including SaaS products, through several tier 1 launches.

  • Positioned technical solutions that improve productivity of organizations and business units, ideally related to software development.

  • Created sales messages that enterprise sellers can use for their account-based campaigns.

  • Developed targeted communication, including presenting the solution's value for specific personas.

  • Developed go-to-market strategy (product, positioning, promotion, pricing) based on market, competitive, and customer insights.

  • Led cross-functional projects, engaging with different stakeholders, and across key functions.

  • Self-driven and able to work in a distributed environment, including working flexible hours and traveling to team meet-ups and industry events when required.

Octopus has an internally open and transparent system for compensation. Any Octonaut can view the compensation for any role at any level. This ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same.

The compensation for this role is:

Level 3

Maturing: $145,000 annual + stock options

Performing: $175,000 annual + stock options

Benefits include a minimum of 25 days annual leave, up to 10 days of paid sick and carers leave, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave with flexible return options, generous health care (100% individuals, 75% dependents), dental and vision, 401K matching, and stock options. Learn more.
