About the Sustainability team

You will join the Sustainability team, the creators of Workiva’s leading platform for collecting, organizing, and reporting sustainability data. We are a collaborative, remote-first group of engineers committed to supporting each other’s professional growth and delivering high-quality software. Our stack pairs Kotlin API services with Dart and TypeScript, supported by automated build, test, and release pipelines so you can focus on writing great code. We’re actively investing in intelligent AI integrations designed to simplify user workflows and save time. If these technologies are new to you, that’s perfectly okay—we prioritize curiosity and the desire to learn over specific prior experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions that meet business and technical requirements, following industry best practices and coding standards

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and refine project requirements, ensuring alignment with product vision and strategy

  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor engineers to maintain code quality and consistency

  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans, including automated tests, to ensure software quality and reliability

  • Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple contexts, employing appropriate tools and techniques

  • Work closely with support teams to address production issues and ensure customer satisfaction

  • Participate in product discovery activities, gaining insights and identifying innovation opportunities

  • Establish key performance indicators and metrics for problem identification, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement

  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field; an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience 

  • 4 years of relevant experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in computer science, including expertise in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented software design, and working with cloud-based distributed systems

  • Demonstrated expertise in modern programming languages such as Dart, Typescript, React, Go, Java, and/or Kotlin

  • Expertise in debugging complex systems or applications

  • Experience as a technical mentor preferred, with the ability to coach and mentor junior engineers

  • Experience working in an agile development environment preferred, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivery

  • Experience developing for service-oriented architecture is a plus

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability skills, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with new technologies and best practices in software engineering

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests  

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, as we embrace flexible work arrangements

How You’ll Be Rewarded

✅ Salary range in the US: $111,000.00 - $178,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
