We’re an international and diverse team of finance, tech, and data science specialists, based in London, Paris and Vilnius, working to modernise B2B payments.

  • Our B2B Buy Now, Pay Later solution enables merchants to offer credit terms to their business customers instantly, resulting in a 40% average increase in revenue for integrated merchants.

  • We are scaling rapidly across Western Europe, with a list of stellar clients and recently raised $40 million in Series B investment to support our mission of enabling 1 million businesses to access a better way to pay by 2025.

  • Join us in our efforts, as we have already made good progress with 50,000 businesses regularly using Hokodo, but need your support to take us to the next level!

About the role We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team, to work on Hokodo’s insurance and payment API and help us build out our merchant and buyer tools. We are seeking a sharp, energetic and passionate individual and are looking for all varieties of talented engineers who are driven to grow and make a difference!

Our Tech Stack

  • Python + Django REST framework in the back-end

  • React.js + Next.js in the front-end

  • PostgreSQL for the database

  • AWS for the infrastructure

Location: The Engineering Team at Hokodo currently works remotely or hybrid from the UK or France. We’re open to candidates who would like to work remotely (UK, France and Lithuania), or in any of our offices (London, Paris and Vilnius). Unfortunately, we’re unable to hire non-residents or engineers working remotely from other countries at the moment.

What you’ll be doing - If you get excited by the following, this is the role for you.

  • Delivering Seamless Integrations: As a Senior Software Engineer at Hokodo, you will carry our value of creating seamless integrations right through the customer journey. This is key to delivering on our promise to bring trade credit into the digital age and offer business customers a seamless service, in the most painless, straightforward and transparent way.

  • Understanding Technologies and Testing: You are quick to learn new technologies, while understanding that the latest new thing isn’t necessarily the best tool for the job. Understanding the value of strong testing and attention to detail while staying open minded and willing to learn new technologies.

  • Balancing Pragmatism and Perfectionism: We know what it’s like to be so involved in a project you get lost in your own bubble, but we’d expect you to be pragmatic and find the right compromise for the sake of overall company goals in delivering our product out to consumers.

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: We understand you might want your own space, and we’ll need you to work with a high level of autonomy at times, but we’re also big on our culture, so you should be open to teamwork and collaboration.

Who we’re looking for - At Hokodo, we prioritise hiring individuals who share our mission and values, and possess the right attitudes and behaviours for success. While some of the listed requirements may be important, don't worry if you don't meet all of them, we’d still like to hear from you.

We are looking for a Python veteran, with a good understanding of modern web applications, HTTP and REST APIs.

Nice to have:

  • Django: Bonus points if you’re familiar with Django and the Django REST framework.

  • React.js: Or other similar front end technologies.

  • Amazon Web Services: Or other similar cloud platforms

  • PostgreSQL: Or other similar relational databases

Interview Process

  • Intro, Company Fit & Career History Discussion with the Talent team - 30-45 minutes - Video Call

  • Hiring Manager Screen with the VP of Engineering and a Senior Engineering Manager - 60 minutes - Video call

  • Take Home Technical Test (we expect people to spend around 2-4 hours on this)

  • Review of Technical Test Discussion with 2 of our Lead Software Engineers - 90 minutes - Video call

  • Culture Add & Stakeholder Management Discussion with a Product Manager and one of the co-founders - 60 minutes - Video call

We are open to discussing any reasonable adjustments you may need to accommodate you through the interview process.
