Hello đź‘‹

We’re hiring a Senior Product Owner! This is a pragmatic, hands-on product role emphasising product delivery. You will lead detailed discovery and delivery of enhancements to our core platform, partnering closely with engineers and UX to turn validated customer insights into clear, technically informed, and cost-effective solutions.

Your success in this role will depend on your strong technical instincts, deep understanding of web technologies—especially within analytics, tracking, APIs, UX and data—and your ability to balance customer focus with practical execution. You will actively translate strategic direction from the Product Manager into actionable, iterative development tasks without over-specifying or over-designing.

We're looking for someone who excels at shaping real-world solutions, identifying quick wins, managing technical trade-offs, and maintaining clear and actionable backlogs that keep our delivery aligned to customer needs and platform integrity.

About InnoCraft and Matomo 📊

At InnoCraft, we’re building a more ethical, privacy-first digital world. As the leading open-source web analytics platform, Matomo powers over 1 million websites and apps in 190+ countries, offering organisations the insights they need while maintaining full data ownership and user trust.

We believe in openness, privacy, and transparency. Every month, our platform processes billions of data points — transforming complex information into intuitive, powerful reports that delight users. Matomo is available in 50+ languages and supported by a global, fully remote community with strong hubs in New Zealand, Europe, and Canada.

Why Join Matomo?

-   Join a mission-driven company committed to privacy, transparency, and ethical technology.

-   Collaborate with an international, distributed team in a flexible, remote-first environment.

-   Work on a product used globally by enterprises, governments, universities, NGOs, and SMEs.

-   Play a key role in shaping the future of open digital analytics during a period of significant industry evolution.

Roles and Responsibilities 🚀

-   Become a recognised expert in Matomo’s capabilities, extensibility, and enterprise use cases.

-   Own and clearly prioritise the backlog for your product areas: the main Matomo platform, ensuring alignment with roadmap and business goals.

-   Translate high-level ideas into detailed, technically sound product specifications—including user flows, straw-man wireframes, and clear acceptance criteria.

-   Collaborate closely and daily with developers to assess implementation options, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure iterative delivery.

-   Engage regularly with our open-source community and internal customer support to gather feedback and qualify feature requests.

-   Participate actively in structured customer interviews and user-focused groups to ensure strong user validation of proposed solutions.

-   Break complex product goals into Quarterly Milestones and clearly scoped, sprint-ready issues.

-   Partner with UX engineers or external UX consultants to refine designs, ensuring solutions are intuitive, practical, and within budget/time constraints.

-   Support Marketing in release planning and product launches.

-   Continuously improve product management practices—particularly backlog hygiene, prioritisation, lean documentation, and specification clarity.

Minimum qualifications 🤓

-   4–6+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar technical product-facing role, ideally in a B2B SaaS or enterprise environment.

-   Fluent in German and/or French, and excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

-   Strong technical background with demonstrated experience in web analytics, tracking technologies, APIs, or similar web/data-centric products.

-   Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams, refining stories, managing technical trade-offs, and delivering iterative solutions within complex codebases.

-   Comfortable creating initial UX wireframes/user flows, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with UX/UI professionals.

-   Solid experience with agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and comfortable working asynchronously across multiple time zones.

-   Located in or able to consistently overlap with Central European Time (CET).

-   Available for short periodic European business travel, every one or two months.

Preferred Qualifications

-   Educational background in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or other numerate/technical discipline.

-   Prior experience engaging actively with developer communities.

-   Familiarity with GDPR, ePrivacy, or digital compliance challenges relevant to EU-based businesses.

About you ✨

-   Technical Competency: Confident in discussions around technical architectures, data analysis, and web technologies.

-   Customer-Focused: Able to deeply understand customer needs, translating them into valuable product improvements.

-   Pragmatic Execution: Balances ideal solutions with practical constraints, favouring iterative progress and delivery.

-   Effective Communicator: Exceptional clarity in communicating ideas, trade-offs, and specifications to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
