Senior Product Manager - Constellation Services
About the Role:
As a Senior Product Manager (PM) at Planet, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects using your industry expertise and product vision. You will own vision and plan requirements with internal stakeholders including: coordinating input, managing the product roadmap, identifying risks, and clearly communicating them to stakeholders, as well as lead projects through the entire product lifecycle. You have familiarity explaining your analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
You will be primarily responsible for the ongoing evolution of Planet’s Constellation Services (CxS) products, a new line of products which support large customers in buying secure access and reserved capacity on our satellites. You will lead the development of the CxS Products and work in collaboration with teams across Space Systems, Product/Engineering, and Commercial to ensure our new product line is responsive to customer needs. This role may evolve with the changing needs of our organization and the lifecycle of our constellations.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.
Impact You'll Own:
Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Constellation Services product line, ensuring alignment with Space Business Group’s goals and market needs.
Gather and prioritize unique product requirements from CxS customers, internal stakeholders (e.g., satellite operations, legal, security, engineering), and regulatory bodies.
Collaborate closely with program management, engineering, ground systems, and satellite operations teams to design and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable CxS capabilities, including a Direct Access Service.
Drive the development and launch of new product features.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer-facing teams (e.g., Sales, Customer Success, and Support) for CxS offerings, enabling pre-sales and post-sales support.
Work with compliance and security teams to ensure all products and services adhere to export control laws, national security constraints, and data privacy standards.
Develop pricing models and packaging in coordination with finance and commercial leadership.
Monitor product performance, customer satisfaction, and operational SLAs; identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to address them.
Create and maintain product documentation, customer onboarding materials, and training content to support adoption.
Represent the company in customer meetings, industry forums, and with government stakeholders where necessary.
Stay informed of competitor capabilities and market trends to ensure Planet’s CxS products remain competitive and differentiated.
What You Bring:
Eligible for US Export Control licenses such as ITAR and EAR
Excellent understanding of satellite ground systems, RF communications, tasking conops, downlink/uplink processes, and data processing
Ability to understand and represent the needs of government, defense, and/or commercial customers with high-security or mission-critical requirements
6+ years of Product Management experience including proven ability to define product vision, build roadmaps, prioritize features, and deliver high-impact outcomes in a cross-functional environment
Experience working in a dynamic environment with a proven ability to tackle unique challenges presented by its dynamic conditions
Experience managing complex projects with cross-functional teams (engineering, legal, operations, security, sales) and external stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Outstanding written and spoken communication skills and organizational skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
What Makes You Stand Out:
Knowledge of secure communications architectures and satellite command/control systems is highly desirable
Familiarity with export controls (e.g., ITAR, EAR), licensing constraints, and cybersecurity requirements in space or defense-related products
Experience working with or as part of the Defense and Intelligence community
Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.
