Senior Product Designer II
Location: Remote - United States
About the Role:
As a Senior Product Designer II at HubSpot, you'll thrive in an environment that encourages innovative thinking and strategic influence. You'll play a crucial role in shaping product design, driving customer and business value, and mentoring peers, all while having a transparent career path to guide your growth.
About the Product
The Developer Product Group builds the tools necessary for HubSpot’s growing customer base to get the most out of their HubSpot accounts. We own and deliver a best-in-class set of developer tools that unlock added power, data, features, and insights for HubSpot’s customers through custom-built apps, extensions, and integrations. Our tooling provides external developers with everything they need, from support to ramp up quickly, to the tools necessary to build out test environments, Apps, integrations, workflows, and CMS customizations. And we’re continuously partnering with teams across HubSpot to unlock new and powerful ways to customize and extend the scaling HubSpot product.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Impact and Ownership: Lead solutions for complex problems that tie directly to broader company goals. Demonstrate ownership of large-scale initiatives impacting customer and business value.
Influence and Evangelization: Cultivate stakeholder buy-in at all levels, aligning cross-functional goals and fostering shared understanding.
Complex Problem Solving: Break down large projects into achievable milestones, managing risks and cross-team dependencies while solving ambiguous problems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a partner to managers, influence roadmaps, and generate work that extends beyond your immediate team, collaborating across the organization.
Communication and Mentorship: Adapt communication for diverse audiences, mentor peers, and create leverage for teams to enhance their performance.
Leadership in Design: Define design strategies that connect root causes to business problems, going beyond surface-level solutions.
Continuous Development: Actively seek growth opportunities, refining personal skills and helping shape roles within IC teams.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Define clear success metrics to inform decisions, utilizing data and frameworks to balance value delivery and cross-team dependencies.
What We're Looking For:
Experience with Enterprise Developer Tooling: Navigate the feature-rich and highly technical landscape of development platforms with confidence. Demonstrate foundational knowledge of developer workflows and toolchains—IDEs, APIs, CLI systems, CI/CD pipelines, and version control should be well understood and leveraged to inform design decisions.
Love of Code: Design with code and feel at home in development environments. Constantly explore open source projects, stay current with modern coding trends, and maintain fluency in the evolving technical landscape that shapes user experiences.
Systems Thinking and Expertise: Apply expert-level systems thinking through established frameworks like the Atomic model. Architect modular, flexible, and reusable design systems that drive consistent, cohesive experiences—especially critical for agentic coding workflows that demand standardized UI patterns and structured approaches.
Builder's Mindset: Embrace the philosophy that a prototype is worth a thousand meetings. Maintain a bias toward building, consistently utilizing tools like Cursor, V0, and Lovable to create proof-of-concepts that demonstrate possibility and accelerate stakeholder understanding.
Lead with a Clear Vision: Synthesize complex narratives into 'byte-sized' strategic insights. Lead from the front with a proactive industry perspective, knowing how to activate partners and teams around blue sky visions that push organizational boundaries and unlock new opportunities.
