Building the Future of AI UX at HubSpot: A Culture of Collaboration, Curiosity, and Craft

About Our AI Team

At HubSpot, our rapidly expanding AI team is at the forefront of shaping the future of enterprise AI experiences. We're developing innovative AI agents for front office teams that will transform how businesses and their customers interact with artificial intelligence, helping our customers achieve their goals faster than ever before.

Designing in the AI space is fast-paced and full of unknowns. Last year, we launched Breeze Customer Agent, one of our flagship AI Agents that can resolves 50%+ of common customer support issues, assists with simple actions, and escalates when human support is needed. Building on this success, we're evolving it into a 24/7 AI Concierge that supports high-volume conversations across marketing, sales, and service. We're also building a robust AI agent platform to empower internal teams and third-party developers to create custom agents for diverse, powerful use cases.

We tackle unique research and design challenges, turning user skepticism into intuitive experiences that unlock creativity and professional potential. We balance cutting-edge innovation with a strong commitment to delivering tangible, valuable solutions. Embracing a 'learning-by-doing' approach, we constantly learn from a quickly evolving market. You don't need to be an AI expert; we seek curious, driven, imaginative, designers with a high bar for craft who are eager to learn and grow. This is a unique opportunity at the intersection of UX and AI to define what's next.

What we’re up to

Last year we launched CoPilot, an AI-powered conversational interface embedded across every page of HubSpot. The promise of CoPilot is a surface that allows any user at any moment to get AI assistance in context. The natural language interface allows the system to meet the users where they are at without needing to be overly technical.

We also invested in our first generation of AI agents. We learned a lot about the challenges and opportunities agents bring, which has allowed us to envision a more sophisticated evolution into an agent platform this year. This will empower both HubSpot and third-party creators to develop agents tailored to their unique use cases.

At its heart, the work we’re doing is about enabling HubSpot users to unlock their full professional potential. By reducing friction, managing complexity, and amplifying creativity, we’re transforming how businesses use AI to achieve their goals. It’s an exciting time to be at the intersection of AI and UX, and we’re just getting started.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer II to own and evolve HubSpot’s AI Experience system — the patterns, components, and design guidance that make AI-powered features transparent, usable, and trustworthy at scale.

You’ll sit within the AI Platform team, working in close partnership with Trellis (our central design system) and collaborating across product teams. Your work will make it easier for hundreds of designers and engineers to build consistent, user-centered AI experiences — accelerating how AI shows up across HubSpot.

Unlike feature teams, you won’t design customer-facing flows directly. Instead, you’ll create the foundational systems and patterns that other teams depend on, helping them design AI-powered experiences with confidence, clarity, and trust.

What We’re Looking For

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a Senior Product Designer II with 5+ years of product design experience, ideally with contributions to design systems or platform-scale initiatives. You’re a strategic thinker who can move fluidly between high-level systems strategy and hands-on design craft.

Your portfolio demonstrates your ability to:

  • Create scalable, reusable systems that improve product quality and efficiency.

  • Translate emerging technologies (like AI) into clear, usable, and trustworthy patterns.

  • Design effective settings and configuration experiences that balance flexibility, usability, and trust.

  • Collaborate across product teams, engineering, and design systems to drive alignment and adoption.

You don’t need to be an AI expert, but you should bring a working understanding of common AI paradigms and interaction models (e.g., configuration, transparency, feedback loops, conversational flows) and curiosity to stay ahead as the field evolves.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Product Designer II on the AI Platform team, you’ll own and evolve the AI Experience system that empowers HubSpot teams to design and build AI features with consistency and trust. You will:

  • Design and maintain upfront AI patterns — the reusable foundations for feedback loops, transparency, settings, and trustworthy AI UX.

  • Shape the strategic relationship with Trellis and product teams, aligning governance, contribution models, and integration into the broader design system.

  • Drive clear communication and awareness of system updates, ensuring designers and engineers know when patterns evolve and how to apply them.

  • Collaborate with product teams to understand their AI use cases, identify emerging needs, and deliver scalable patterns that accelerate their work.

  • Measure adoption and impact of the AI Experience system, iterating based on usage data and feedback.

  • Advocate for trust and usability in AI, influencing how AI shows up across HubSpot’s product ecosystem.

  • Contribute to the growth of the design org by mentoring peers, sharing systems thinking, and raising the bar for design craft.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • The AI Experience system is well-documented, maintained, and widely adopted by teams building AI-powered features.

  • Product teams have access to forward-looking AI patterns, including clear and scalable settings and configuration guidance, that make their work faster, more consistent, and more trustworthy.

  • Strong alignment exists between AI Platform and Trellis, ensuring AI-specific components and guidance are integrated into the broader design system.

  • Designers and engineers across HubSpot view the AI Experience system as their go-to resource for building AI with clarity and confidence.

  • AI-powered features across HubSpot feel consistent, transparent, and user-centered, improving trust and usability at scale..

UX at HubSpot

We’re investing in craft across all areas of UX including research. You can see this with the caliber of the people we’re hiring, setting exceptionally high standards, seeking the very best to help our entire organization understand at a core level the opportunities and challenges in this quickly evolving industry.
