Job Summary:
Reporting to our VP, Accounting, the Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role also involves improving payroll procedures, managing payroll systems, and liaising with HR and other departments.
The Impact U will make:
Payroll Management
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees (US, Australia, & UK)
Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, bonuses, benefits, and deductions.
Maintain and update payroll records and reports.
Manage payroll calendars and ensure deadlines are met.
Compliance & Auditing
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., tax, labor, pension, social security).
Work with federal, state, and local entities to ensure all taxes are paid and filings are up to date.
Respond to agency notices regarding taxes, garnishments, or levies and ensure they are resolved promptly to avoid penalties and fees.
Respond to internal and external audit requests.
Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and regulations.
Systems & Process Improvement
Main contact for HRIS Vendor – in charge of tracking all issues and ensuring prompt resolution.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with HR and IT teams to ensure system integration and data integrity.
Implementing process improvements in relations to payroll in Dayforce
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with HR to coordinate employee data (e.g., onboarding, terminations, promotions).
Partner with Finance to reconcile payroll accounts and support the month-end/year-end close.
Reporting & Analysis
Generate payroll reports and analysis for management and finance teams.
Prepare reports related to headcount, payroll costs, tax liabilities, etc.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership regarding payroll strategies.
What U bring:
5+ years of proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
Strong knowledge of payroll practices, labor laws, and tax regulations.
Proficiency in Dayforce HCM – experience in creating workflows and maintaining the system as a whole
Advanced Excel skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Professional certification a plus (e.g., CPP, CMA, CIPP)
Experience managing multi-country and multi-state payroll

💲 Hiring Ranges:
Tier 1: $84,000 - $110,000 base salary
Tier 2: $70,000 - $100,000 base salary
Unqork employs a market-driven approach to establish compensation ranges. In addition to a base salary, employees may also be eligible to receive a target incentive and company equity in the form of stock options.
An employee’s compensation within the range provided above depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, their location, role, skillset, level of experience, and similar peer salaries.
As a remote-first company, Unqork incorporates a geographic differential into our compensation structure, depending on the candidate’s location. We utilize a tiered system—Tier 1 and Tier 2—to accurately reflect local market rates and ensure our compensation packages are both fair and competitive. Our geographic tiers are defined as follows:
Tier 1: New York Metro, Seattle Metro, San Francisco Bay Area
Tier 2: All other US and US territory locations
