Senior Payroll Accountant

As a Senior Payroll Accountant, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting general ledger reconciliation and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to process improvement and confidentiality.

Your day to day:
Process semi-monthly or bi-weekly payrolls for multi-state (and possibly international) employee populations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Review and reconcile payroll data including compensation, bonuses, commissions, taxes, and benefits
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and address discrepancies
Prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts monthly
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Manage year-end payroll processes, including W-2 and other tax filings
Support internal and external audits related to payroll
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency
Stay current on payroll best practices, labor laws, and tax regulations
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field preferred
5+ years of payroll experience preferred
2+ years in a senior or lead payroll role preferred
In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations and multi-state payroll processing
High attention to detail, discretion with sensitive information, and excellent problem-solving skills
Proven ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Excel and data analysis
Experience with payroll systems and accounting software required. Experience with Paychex and NetSuite is preferred
