Standing in the crisp air of the alpine tundra, a mountain goat surveys the expansive wilderness. To its right craggy slopes plunge down toward rolling grassy hills and energetic streams. To its left the weight of the mountain looms, timeless and stoic. Confident and sure-footed the goat leaps from stone outcrops to gentle slopes - not in defiance of the risks posed by the mountain, but with respect and a self-assuredness born of experience, caution, and a carefully selected path.

Like the mountain goat, Engineers in Risk Product at Mercury look across the vast expanse of our product space. With confidence and respect for the challenges of our domain, we navigate the terrain of risk and compliance, building products that enable us to provide the best possible experience for our customers and internal users.

The Account Fraud and Enablement Team is a new Risk Product team at Mercury that is focused on building tools to enable us to quickly and accurately identify and respond to fraud risks while minimizing friction for our customers.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Account Fraud and Enablement Team, you will work as a hands on software engineer and technical leader. In this role, you may work in tasks like:

  • Implement new systems to support fraud-focused manual and automated reviews of new applications.

  • Work cross-functionally with other Risk Product teams to integrate Account Fraud review flows into systems owned by teams like Risk Onboarding.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-career developers on your team.

  • Work with your engineering manager, product manager, designer, and stakeholders to understand upcoming business needs and propose technical solutions to these problems.

The Ideal Candidate for this Role:

  • Has 7-10+ years of experience as a software engineer with prior experience in both frontend and backend development.

  • Has technical leadership or people management experience and is excited to work in a hands-on individual contributor role that includes a significant leadership focus.

  • Is experienced with, or excited to learn, our frontend technologies including: React, TypeScript, and Redux.

  • Is experienced with, or excited to learn, our backend technologies including: Haskell, Yesod, Persistent, and Postgresql.
