Granite Media is seeking a senior editor to manage and grow our newest site, workandmoney.com.
You'll direct a team of remote writers and editors, brainstorm and assign stories, edit copy, brainstorm headlines and deks, frame and format stories, oversee photo selection and production art, and control the publishing calendar.
This is a permanent staff position, including benefits, at 30 hours per week. This team member can be based in our San Francisco and/or Palo Alto offices, or the role can be fulfilled remotely by someone willing to travel periodically and who can work effectively from home.
About You
You're a seasoned digital journalist and editor with a preference for working in small, dynamic and fast-paced start-up teams. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively. You meet deadlines. You're organized and creative, communicate clearly and consistently, and take pride in your work. You're a master wordsmith with impeccable grammar and a knack for coming up with the perfect headline and opening paragraph for any story. You geek out over personal finance, career advice and fintech. You have a strong network within the editorial community and get a kick out of discussing the future of digital media. Perhaps most importantly, you get stuff done.
Requirements
- 5+ years of digital journalism experience as a reporter or editor, including experience managing writers.
- Hands on experience with content management systems and social media tools and interfaces.
- Experience with Google Analytics and other audience analytics tools (Looker, Newswhip, etc). Note: we're big fans of data here!
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field; master's degree preferred.
