THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Senior Buyer will manage the flow of beverage raw materials from initial sourcing to on-time delivery. The Buyer is responsible for developing relationships with all key suppliers highlighted in the yearly critical supply strategy, and for developing the innovation pipeline for new raw and packaging materials to ensure our existing and future customers always have visibility to, and ability to acquire their critical supplies to execute against their growth strategies.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Source beverage raw materials
- Negotiate and receive pricing
- Prepare quotes to customer
- Research new vendor opportunities
- Obtain product information, data, and miscellaneous certifications
- Process beverage ingredient sample requests
- Create and process purchase orders and submit to vendors
- Complete daily follow up with vendors and customers
- Troubleshoot through issues as needed
- Work with customer service team to organize and track deliveries
- Receive and process vendor invoices
WHO YOU ARE:
- You have a Bachelor's degree Project Management, Business Administration, Supply-Chain Management or related field
- You have 6-10 years minimum experience in purchasing/procurement
- You are a proven self-starter committed to the delivery of quality products and building long term profitable relationships internally and externally
- You have superior negotiation skills
- You have experience in food and beverage industry or consumer packaged goods preferred
- You hold familiarity of beverage industry standards of quality, food safety and compliance regulations including CFIA, FDA, USDA, TTB, Organic, Kosher, Gluten Free, etc.
- You have strong MRP/ERP software skills/understanding, NetSuite required
- You have effective organizational skills to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-faced environment
- You are customer service driven with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- You have strong teamwork skills
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills
- You have strong Excel, mathematical, and negotiation skills
- You are self-directed and hard-working
- You can work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
- You are energetic and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and grow within the company
- You are willing and flexible to travel up to 15% of the time and the ability to work nights and weekends when traveling
