Senior Backend Engineer
Our mission on the Advertising Product & Technology team is to build a next generation advertising platform that aligns with our unique value proposition for audio and video. We work to scale the user experience for hundreds of millions of fans and hundreds of thousands of advertisers. This scale brings unique challenges as well as tremendous opportunities for our artists and creators.
Within Spotify’s Advertising mission, the Identity & Privacy team is building foundational services that power our entire ads business. Among other things, we own the Identity Exchange platform, a system that serves as the single source of truth for user identity, and the Consent Capabilities service, which ensures we always respect user privacy. We are looking for a Senior Backend engineer, to help us design and build the next generation of offerings for our identity and privacy platform, ensuring our systems are reliable, privacy-centric, and capable of operating at massive scale.
What You'll Do
Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable, low latency services using Java, Scala, GCP services like GKE, PubSub, Bigtable, and BigQuery and our orchestration stack.
Build and optimize high-throughput systems for critical projects such as Signal Matching, 1P/2P data ingestion, and our Demand-Side Platform integrations (ID5, EUID, LiveRamp and more).
Collaborate closely with Data engineers, Machine Learning engineers, and other teams, to enhance our probabilistic identity models and deliver our ambitious roadmap.
Provide strong technical leadership over architecture and development of key, privacy-centric features, such as enhancing Consent Capabilities and building new tools to manage user data.
Champion scalability, testability, maintainability, reliability and high-quality code, ensuring we follow Spotify’s Golden Path technologies.
Work in a T-shaped environment, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders, embracing learning and leadership opportunities daily.
Lead on architecture and design decisions when needed, while also being comfortable executing on plans, pair-programming and debugging with your teammates.
Who You Are
Proven experience working with distributed, high-volume production services, and strong programming skills in Java
Commitment to agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation
Strong interest in, and ideally some experience with, data engineering and building data processing workflows and pipelines.
