π THE KEY BITS
Whereabouts: We are a fully remote company with globally distributed team members. For this role, we are prioritizing candidates who are based in EST (UTC-5) to EEST (UTC+3) time zones.
Visas: We do not sponsor work visas or relocation expenses
Salary: We have budgeted a range of $90-110k USD but are flexible to speak with candidates who feel excited about the role and qualify
Video Interviews: TBD but will be at least 3 interviews
Candidates selected to advance in our process will be required to do a brief technical coding test before an initial chat
Any final candidates will also have the opportunity to meet more team members

π YOUR CONTRIBUTION
In this rapidly evolving world, Slate is always looking for new ways to disrupt the status quo, go to market faster, and optimize customer experiences. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will focus on cloud (AWS) and web development. Being part of a small, nimble team, you will be working closely with our Co-Founding team including our CEO/Head of Product (based in NYC) as well as other Co-Founders, Engineers, and Designers. This is an ideal role for an experienced engineer who is looking to join a passionate team and be part of the exciting startup journey.

You will:
Actively contribute to one of our small cross-functional teams with high degree of autonomy and ownership
Design, build and ship new features to production fast
Improve and extend our existing services (and create new ones) to help us scale as we rapidly grow and evolve
Write sustainable, testable and high-quality code in Typescript / Node.js
Identify opportunities for improvement and be encouraged to share and execute it
Assist in designing infrastructure and architecture
Be open to share knowledge with teammates and to help/assist other teammates as needed
Requirements
π¬ WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate with have 5-10 years of programming and development experience
At least 3+ years of back-end development experience with Node.js, ideally with Typescript
Experience with developing and maintaining services and APIs in a serverless infrastructure, ideally with AWS Lambda
Experience with AWS DynamoDB or a similar NoSQL database
Experience with the following AWS services: S3, Cognito, EventBridge, SQS. Other AWS services are a plus.
Experience with AWS infrastructure setup with either CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform or Serverless framework
Previous experience working in a startup environment is a plus
Excellent communication skills
Ability to think effectively, critically and creatively
English language: Intermediate level or higher for reading, writing, speaking
