Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and review core data systems that support a wide range of products.

  • Partner with other engineering leads across R&D to build world-class products

  • Ensure world-class reliability, security, and cost-efficiency for all the products we build

  • Mentor other engineers on the team throughout their journey

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Required:

  • Proven experience designing and building large-scale, cloud-based, highly available software and data platforms.

  • Deep expertise in data architecture, including data modeling, real-time and batch data processing, low-latency data storage, and integration with modern data warehouses and data lakes.

  • Work closely with executive leadership to identify new business opportunities enabled by data architecture and infrastructure, supporting strategic goals such as personalization, predictive analytics, or new product development.

  • Experience designing scalable systems for real-time and batch data processing pipelines using modern tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink, etc.).

  • Recognized thought leader in data and cloud architecture, with a demonstrated ability to set strategic direction and execute with a bias for action.

  • Skilled at balancing long-term architectural vision with short-term business priorities, enabling pragmatic and sustainable solutions.

  • Proven ability to design complex, scalable, and fault-tolerant data systems in an iterative and evolutionary manner.

  • Committed to implementing best practices in data governance, data quality, and compliance across the organization.

  • Strong cloud expertise with hands-on experience in cloud ecosystems (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and designing systems optimized for performance and cost-efficiency.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate data architecture concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong collaborator, able to influence and build productive relationships across engineering, data science, product, and business teams.

  • Passionate about enabling other developers and data professionals through leadership, mentoring, and driving efficient, well-informed decision-making.

  • Experienced in leading teams to tackle highly complex engineering and data architecture challenges, delivering innovative and impactful solutions.

  • Skilled at articulating and sharing platform vision with customers and synthesizing their business needs to influence strategy and vision
