Senior Accountant
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to oversee the daily accounting operations for our Managed Service Provider (MSP) business. This role will focus on revenue recognition, billing, expense management, and compliance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, subscription-based revenue models, and IT service accounting.
This is a remote position that will work either MST or PST working hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Accounting & Financial Operations:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.
Process and reconcile accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including vendor payments and customer invoices.
Oversee expense management, ensuring proper categorization and adherence to budget guidelines.
Prepare and review bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
Revenue Recognition & Billing Management:
Manage recurring revenue and subscription-based billing, ensuring proper recognition under GAAP (ASC 606).
Oversee contract billing, including monthly service agreements, project-based invoicing, and variable usage charges.
Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to ensure accurate customer invoicing and revenue tracking.
Compliance, Audit & Tax Support:
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal accounting policies.
Support external audits and tax filings, providing necessary documentation and analysis.
Maintain and improve internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
Process Improvement & System Optimization:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance financial reporting.
Support the implementation and optimization of accounting software and automation tools.
Work closely with IT teams to integrate financial systems with MSP tools (PSA, RMM, and CRM platforms).
Collaboration & Leadership:
Provide guidance to junior accounting staff, ensuring best practices in financial management.
Work closely with department heads to align financial planning with business goals.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the MSP, IT services, or SaaS industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks and NetSuite).
Experience with PSA tools (ConnectWise, Autotask) and financial integrations is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
