Title: Scientific Communications & Research Associate

Location: Remote

About Us:

Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Vera’s mission is to advance treatments that target the source of immunologic diseases in order to change the standard of care for patients. Vera’s lead product candidate is atacicept, a native human Fc fusion protein self-administered at home as a subcutaneous weekly injection that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells to produce autoantibodies contributing to certain autoimmune diseases, including IgA nephropathy. Vera is also considering evaluating the role of atacicept in other immunologic disorders. Additionally, Vera is developing VT-109, a novel, next-generation dual BAFF/APRIL inhibitor in preclinical development, and MAU868, a monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize infection with BK virus, a polyomavirus that can have devastating consequences in certain settings such as kidney transplant. For more information, please visit: www.veratx.com.

Our values are the cornerstone of our culture. Our values inspire us every day and guide everything we do—from how we hire great people, to advancing our mission together, to achieving our ultimate goal to improve medical treatment for patients suffering from immunological diseases.

Position Summary:

  • Support key opinion leader (KOL) and academic collaborator engagement by preparing literature reviews, meeting materials, and post-conference summaries.

  • Partner with Medical Information to support management of READCUBE & cross functional publication alerts and process of MLR (medical legal review) for medical content.

Research

  • Engage with cross-functional teams in evaluating early-stage assets and portfolio expansion opportunities, including target assessments and indication prioritization.

  • Conduct literature reviews and analyze public data to inform evaluations of in-licensing candidates, novel mechanisms, and translational biomarkers.

  • Contribute to IND-enabling strategy discussions by aligning preclinical data and timelines with regulatory, CMC, and pharmacology stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with external CROs to support outsourced experimental benchmarking and feasibility studies in line with internal objectives.

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing scientific rationale, background sections, and supporting materials for IND submissions.

  • Monitor emerging publications, competitive pipelines, and industry trends to inform disease landscape reviews and opportunity assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, pharmacology, immunology, or related scientific field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 1–3 years of industry or academic research/management experience (biotech/pharma preferred), with exposure to drug discovery or development.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize scientific literature, clinical data, and public datasets to support early research strategy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting scientific summaries, slide presentations, or publications.

  • Familiarity with the IND-enabling process and/or early pipeline evaluations a plus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, interacting with Research, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and external partners.
