Product Designer
Clipboard Health helps healthcare facilities find the nurses and nursing assistants they need. We’re solving a critical problem in healthcare staffing by building software that’s fast, reliable, and easy to use. Design plays a central role in making that happen.
We’re hiring Product Designers to help us improve the quality of our product, strengthen our brand, and better support our customers. As a Designer here, you’ll work on meaningful problems, collaborate closely with Engineering and Product, and shape the experience of a product that thousands of people rely on every day.
What you’ll do
Talk to customers regularly to understand their needs and workflows
Design user interfaces based on product briefs, customer feedback, and business goals
Collaborate with PMs and engineers to shape features and make smart tradeoffs
Lead usability testing and interpret usage data to improve designs
Provide feedback during implementation to make sure designs are executed well
Contribute to and evolve our design system to support fast, consistent work
Improve existing features and flows as part of ongoing product quality efforts
Suggest new product ideas based on your understanding of customer needs
What we’re looking for
Strong UI and UX skills, with a portfolio that shows clear thinking and good craft
An understanding of how to evoke emotion through interaction and visual design
The ability to work across a large, complex product with consistency
Good judgment about where to spend time and when to move quickly
A focus on the customer and a desire to understand the problems they face
Initiative and persistence to push through ambiguity and get things shipped
A bias for speed and responsiveness when working with engineers and PMs
How the team works
Designers are embedded in Product-Engineering pods (4-5 Engineers + 1 PM), each focused on a specific area of the business. Each Designer will work with 1–2 pods, forming long-term partnerships with PMs and Engineers to build deep context and improve execution.
Our Design team is small but growing, and our Designers currently report to the Head of Engineering, with plans to hire a design lead as the team scales.
Hiring process
As you may have read elsewhere, we highly emphasize evaluating candidates based on their work, and especially work that is representative of the actual work they might do at Clipboard Health. For this reason we heavily emphasize case studies (sometimes referred to as take-home assignments). However, given the high volume of submissions we receive, we may not be able to respond thoughtfully to each one.
Portfolio review
Design case study and accompanying interview
Interview with Head of Engineering
Interview with our CEO
Compensation
Estimated annual compensation: $120,000-$200,000. Each candidate's compensation offer within this range will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, and geographic location.
