At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the gaming industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the level design (open world and instanced) for a free-to-play open world adventure game while serving Content, Gameplay, and Creative goals

  • Create 3D open-worlds, as well as instanced levels, with a focus on playable edges, surfaces, and interiors that support creative traversal, exploration, and gameplay mechanics

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in game level design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or equivalent role

  • Proven experience creating playable levels utilizing landmarking, positive/negative space, and traversal elements to bring worlds to life

  • Deep understanding of how level design drives flow, pacing, and storytelling

  • Ability to be creative, both with minimal direction and while working within tight constraints

  • Have worked on or shipped titles within the adventure and/or open world genres

  • Experience with AAA engines and editors (e.g. Unity or Unreal)

  • Experience developing and operating free-to-play games

  • Experience working on projects in the pre-production phase

  • Ability to thrive in an environment where feedback, playtesting, and data are used to drive continuous improvement through iteration

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present and articulate game design concepts to team members, as well as senior management

  • Ability to anticipate production and identify potential roadblocks in design

  • A passion for video games and the adventure genre, with a deep understanding of core game mechanics and game design principles

  • Passion for mobile games

Bonus Points

  • Art background

  • Experience with dynamically generated level design

  • Familiarity with modding and/or user-generated content
