About Finite State
At Finite State, we're on a mission to secure the connected world. Our platform empowers product security teams to detect vulnerabilities, manage software supply chain risks, and ensure compliance across complex device ecosystems. From IoT to critical infrastructure, we provide unparalleled visibility into firmware and software components, helping organizations protect their products and customers.
We operate with a “learn-it-all” mindset: constantly evolving, asking better questions, and improving how we work and what we deliver. This mindset underpins everything we do and is reflected in our values:
Transparency – We share openly: what’s working, what’s not, and where we’re headed.
Results – We focus on what moves the needle and deliver outcomes that drive impact.
Accountability – We own it, hold the bar high, and act with urgency.
Customer Dedication – We stay close to our customers, anticipate their needs, and act as true partners.
Bold Innovation – We push boundaries, explore new ideas, and take initiative to solve complex problems.
The Role
We’re looking for a People Operations Specialist to help scale and evolve the foundational systems and programs that support our employees. This includes everything from onboarding to leveling to performance and more. This is a hands-on IC role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup, is excited by the opportunity to build and optimize systems, and is eager to explore how AI can streamline PeopleOps work.
What You’ll Do
Act as the go-to PeopleOps partner for day-to-day employee needs (e.g., benefits, leaves, lifecycle questions)
Manage and optimize core People programs including onboarding, offboarding, benefits, and contractor processes
Own and improve review cycles, performance management programs, and leveling frameworks in partnership with leadership
Support compensation planning cycles, including data hygiene and tooling support
Maintain and continuously improve our People tech stack by implementing, upgrading, and integrating systems such as Lattice, TriNet, Deel, Greenhouse, Pave, and Checkr
Champion process automation and AI-driven solutions for operational efficiency
Document and maintain policies, internal SOPs, and compliance artifacts
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Engineering teams on workflows, reporting, and data governance
Ensure compliance with employment laws and support audits, reporting, and filings as needed
What You Bring
3-6 years of experience in PeopleOps, HR, or startup operations roles
Proven experience owning or supporting compensation cycles, leveling processes, and performance review
Track record of implementing or upgrading PeopleOps tools and systems
Strong grasp of U.S. employment basics (payroll, benefits, compliance)
Experience supporting global teams or international contractor management
Experience in change management, org design, or scaling PeopleOps through Series B/C
Strong communicator and project manager who thrives on clarity and follow-through
Process- and detail-oriented with a bias for building scalable systems
Comfortable working with data, tracking metrics, and generating insights
Fluency or high curiosity in how AI tools can augment People workflows
Experience with Lattice, TriNet, Deel, Greenhouse, Pave, and Checkr preferred
Comfortable in remote-first, fast-paced, high-accountability environments
Nice to Have
Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools like Pave or Option Impact
Exposure to AI-enabled tools for recruiting, onboarding, or internal knowledge management
SHRM-CP, PHR, or other relevant HR certifications
