ABOUT SWING:
On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K-12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers. Swing Education is focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. Our online platform makes it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work associated with managing a pool of substitute teachers (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.). Our network provides subs with a wider range of work opportunities to gain experience and build their professional network. After more than 6 years in operation we are working with over 4000 schools in 7 states and have filled over 300k teacher absence days. We're a post-series B company with about 50 employees currently and our lead investors include GV (aka Google Ventures), Owl Ventures, and Social Capital. POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains and supports the payroll processes by providing excellent service and support to our employees.
This will be a part-time position (24 hours per week), with the possibility of moving to full-time. The initial schedule for this role will be 3 days per week (Sunday - Tuesday)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews all incoming payroll tickets in Zendesk, responds timely, with compassion, looping in internal stakeholders as needed to provide resolution.
Regularly investigates timesheet/ scheduling discrepancies, including cancellations, offline work, and missing data.
Assists in processing terminations and adheres to required state laws.
Reviews payroll data for all penalties including meal breaks, cancellations, report pay, overtime, double-time, training, makes all necessary corrections/ outreach.
Assists with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Supports Swing Education’s effort to comply with confidentiality and security requirements.
Establishes and maintains effective working relations with other departments.
Follows Standards for Service Excellence for Swing Education.
Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
Must be available to work Sundays.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent, minimum two years customer service experience.
Payroll processing experience a plus.
Must be eagerly tech savvy, including proficient on Google, Slack, MS Office, and Zendesk, ADP Workforce Now experience a plus.
Must have CA payroll/ employment law knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as overtime, pay adjustments, percentages.
