Partner Manager - Commercial
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Partner Manager to join Planet’s Partnerships team. Partners play a key role in how Planet goes to market, bringing industry knowledge, analytics tools, and distribution networks to the table. In this role, you’ll work closely with leadership to shape and execute a partnership strategy that supports Planet’s goals in the Commercial sector. You’ll build and manage the key partnerships that make that strategy successful—acting as a bridge between Planet and our partners by advocating for partner needs internally, and helping partners understand and advance Planet’s goals in return. This role reports to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and collaborates closely with leaders across Planet’s Commercial business group.
This is a full-time, remote position that may be based in the United States or Canada. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.
Impact You'll Own:
Collaborate with leadership to shape and execute a partner strategy that supports growth across Planet’s Commercial verticals, including Agriculture, Natural Resources & Energy, Finance & Insurance, Education & Research, and Emerging Markets
Build and manage strong partner relationships across North America and Europe, collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals
Work closely with Sales and Product leaders to align partnerships with broader business objectives and unlock new growth opportunities
Enable partner success through effective contracts, business structures, sales and technical enablement, and regular performance check-ins
Deeply understand partner capabilities, challenges, and potential, and advocate for their needs within Planet to drive stronger collaboration and outcomes
Set clear expectations with partners, uphold Planet’s standards for ethical and effective business, and proactively address challenges to growth
Represent partnerships in key Commercial business meetings, such as Sales Kickoffs, QBRs, and forecast calls, while also contributing insights to improve programs like the Orbit Partner Program
What You Bring:
6+ years of experience managing revenue-focused partnerships and/or working closely with partners to drive sales
Proven success building and executing partner strategies that support business growth
A track record of meeting or exceeding performance goals—individually and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills across different formats—presenting, speaking, and writing—to clearly share ideas and drive action
Comfort working in a remote-first environment, both on your own and with cross-functional teams
Ability to manage shifting priorities—using good judgement, knowing when to move fast, slow down, or ask for support
Ability to solve problems creatively, even when things aren’t perfect
Ability to push through challenges and stay focused on the end goal
What Makes You Stand Out:
Experience working with geospatial imagery or GIS tools
Background in partnering with organizations that serve commercial clients
Experience in B2B SaaS environments
Familiarity with API platforms or data-focused products
A history of taking initiative and working independently without needing a lot of direction
Proven track record of delivering big results and making a strong impact
