Why TrueAccord?

TrueAccord, a wholly owned subsidiary of TrueML, is a category-defining company. We combine machine learning with a human-based approach to transform debt resolution and to get people on the path towards financial health. Every year, more than 70 million Americans have negative experiences dealing with debt. We are changing this by providing personalized digital experiences that guide lenders and consumers through this challenging financial process.

With a world-class leadership team, passionate team members, and proprietary predictive models trained on years worth of transactional data, TrueAccord is well-positioned to deliver on a huge opportunity: helping millions of consumers to regain and keep their financial footing while lowering the cost of doing business for creditors across many industries.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Paralegal II to be a key contributor to our in-house Legal & Compliance team. Our team is not a traditional back-office function; we are strategic partners to the business, leveraging technology to build scalable and efficient processes. This role is perfect for a legal professional who excels at managing multiple priorities and is enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, tech-driven environment. You will be a vital part of the team, handling day-to-day legal and compliance tasks while helping to support the operational backbone of the department.

Benefits & Perks

  • Everything you need to work remotely

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Medical/dental/vision insurance

  • 401k through Charles Schwab

  • Flexible Spending Account, Limited FSA, and Health Savings Account- with an eligible health care package.

  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability plus basic life insurance.

  • Family-friendly maternity and paternity leave

  • Employee assistance program (EAP) via Claremont. Get free short-term counseling for mental health, free + discounted legal consultations, free financial consultations, access to work/life consultants, and more!

  • PerkSpot discount program. PerkSpot offers exclusive discounts to 900+ merchants nationwide, and has exclusive discounts up to 60% on hotels worldwide.

  • Paid time off to do volunteer work in your community.

  • Access to the Wellness Coach app for you and 5 family members

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Litigation management: You will be managing a caseload of incoming litigation and demand letters, conducting investigations and root-cause analysis, communicating and negotiating with opposing counsel, coordinating litigation defense with outside counsel, and you will be a key player in supporting legal strategies.

  • Regulatory complaints: Investigate and respond to inbound complaints from regulators, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate resolution.

  • Compliance: You will assist in compliance functions of the organization, including assisting with policies and procedures, issue management, and compliance testing and monitoring.

  • Contracts: You will review and manage MNDAs and conduct due diligence on new clients, as well as assist the in-house attorneys with master services agreements.

  • Operational excellence: A key part of your role will be to take ownership and proactively identify areas for improvement, contributing directly to the success and scalability of our legal and compliance functions.

What You'll Bring (The Must-Haves)

  • A Tech-Savvy and Agile Professional: You must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to new technologies and procedures. Strong proficiency in collaborative tools, specifically in Mac systems, Google Suite, Slack, and JIRA, is a baseline requirement for success on our team.

  • Radically Accountable and Proactive: You demonstrate an unwavering commitment to high ethical standards and professional integrity. You take ownership of your work, handle multiple projects with precision, and consistently meet critical deadlines. You don't wait to be told what to do.

  • Meticulous and Analytical: You have a meticulous focus on delivering high-quality work. Your strong analytical mindset allows you to make sound, well-reasoned decisions, even under pressure.

  • An Exceptional Communicator: You possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with internal leadership, cross-functional teams, and external counsel.

  • Relevant Experience: 4+ years of combined experience in a corporate in-house legal department, preferably in a fintech, a debt collection agency, or another financial institution.
