About the Role

​​The Marketing Manager, Incentives at CALSTART will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans to promote our initiatives in these sectors. This position requires a dynamic and creative leader with a strong background in marketing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sustainable transportation solutions. The Marketing Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Marketing, Trucks, Off-Road, and Bus and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.  ​ 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing initiatives that elevate awareness, engagement, and adoption of voucher incentive programs while establishing brand consistency across channels. Create compelling messaging that resonates with target audiences to drive measurable business impact.   

  • This role will orchestrate the end-to-end marketing strategy for CALSTART’s zero-emission vehicle initiatives and incentive programs, from conceptualization through execution, including the launch of a new brand, website, and content ecosystem. The Marketing Manager will own the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for voucher incentive programs, brand development, content creation, and campaign management—building the framework from the ground up and driving continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making.   

  • Marketing & Communications

Develop Marketing Strategy: Create data-driven marketing plans aligned with business goals to reach target audiences.   

Execute Marketing Plans: Implement marketing tactics across channels while managing timelines, budgets, and performance metrics.

Communications: Develop strategic communications for marketing initiatives, launches, and new programs.   

  • Project Management 

End-to-End Management: Own projects from kickoff through launch; coordinate execution activities through project closure.

Project Planning: Develop and manage project timelines to ensure creative projects are completed on schedule.   

Team Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors for seamless execution.   

Quality Control: Review and approve all creative materials to ensure alignment with CALSTART and voucher incentive program standards.   

  • Content Strategy & Creation 

Market Research: Conduct research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive insights within the trucks and clean transportation industry.   

Content Strategy: Develop and implement content strategies that align with CALSTART’s goals and collaborate with senior leadership on continuous improvement.   

Content Development: Create high-quality content for various platforms, including emails, blogs, case studies, white papers, and social media.   

  • Branding 

Brand Development: Support the creation and refinement of voucher incentive program brand strategy.   

Brand Management: Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and visuals across all materials and campaigns.   

Cross-Channel Consistency: Maintain cohesive brand storytelling across all platforms.   

Brand Training: Provide brand standards training and guidance to ensure internal alignment.   

  • Marketing Operations & Efficiency 

Process Improvement: Identify and implement workflows to improve efficiency across teams.   

Change Management: Establish structured processes for approvals, consistency, and quality standards.   

  • Reporting & Analysis

Performance Metrics: Track engagement and effectiveness across channels.   

Reporting: Prepare and present weekly reports to the Deputy Director and stakeholders.   

Analysis: Provide insights and recommendations for optimization based on performance data. ​ 

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of professional marketing experience   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or equivalent experience   

  • Proven project management skills and the ability to bring structure to ambiguity   

  • Strong communication skills with cross-functional leadership experience   

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail   

  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools (e.g., Monday.com, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Canva, MS Office)   

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities   

  • Passion for sustainability and clean transportation solutions

Desired Qualifications

  • ​​In-depth understanding of clean transportation technology and market dynamics   

  • Experience managing multi-channel marketing initiatives and brand launches   

  • Familiarity with public incentive programs or government-funded initiatives ​ 

$85,000 - $97,000 a year

CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $85,000-$97,000. Pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
