Job Description

Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hello, hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA, making each day exciting and dynamic. As part of this journey, we’re looking for a passionate Localisation Lead to join our team and drive growth in Germany.

About the Role

Every month, more than 100 million Canva users create a design in one of the 100 languages other than English that Canva supports. The Localisation specialty is a small team of linguists, project managers, and engineers distributed throughout the company. As a Germany Localisation Partner, you'll bring your cultural and German linguistic knowledge to all aspects of localisation, ensuring our German users have the best possible Canva experience. You will be the voice of German users and the champion for culturally relevant content.

What you’ll do

  • Identify key opportunities for localisation improvements in German

  • Collaborate with the local team on Product Growth initiatives

  • Evaluate and adapt global messaging, campaigns, and product experiences to resonate with German users

  • Provide cultural insights and guidance to global teams

  • Work closely with linguists, translators, and local partners to ensure clarity, tone, and cultural nuance across all German-language experiences

  • Partner with the German Language Manager to develop language style guides, tone of voice strategies for German, and localisation best practices

What we're looking for

  • Strong understanding of German users and culture, with experience tailoring content or products to local audiences

  • Background in localisation, content design, product growth, or brand copywriting for the German market

  • Passion for creating intuitive, culturally relevant experiences that make Canva feel natural for German users

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate performance and make data-driven improvements

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to bridge creative, product, and engineering teams

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, taking ideas from chaos to clarity

  • Confident with Atlassian tools, basic web development, and writing clear documentation

About the team

The Localisation group is responsible for the localisation of Canva’s product, marketing, and content as well as the tools, processes, and assets that make this possible. We sit within the International Supergroup but we work closely with stakeholders across the whole organisation. Our mission is to celebrate the diversity of our global users and make their interactions with Canva delightful by delivering a hyperlocalised experience.

Other stuff to know

We make hiring decisions to engage contractors based on your experience, skills and passion. When you signify interest in the Project, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the contractor-accreditation interview process.

Please note that contractor-accreditation meetings are conducted virtually.

We celebrate all types of skills and backgrounds at Canva so even if you don’t feel like your skills quite match what’s listed above - we still want to hear from you!
