Background

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Ethereum and related technologies. The EF is not a company or even a traditional non-profit. We do not control Ethereum, nor are we the only organization that funds the critical development of Ethereum-related technologies. We are part of a large ecosystem of organizations, individuals, and companies that support Ethereum. Our mission is to do what is best for Ethereum’s long-term success.

First introduced in 2022, Devconnect has evolved into a space for deep discussions, co-working, and innovation. This year, we aim to take it even further—transforming Devconnect into a 'World’s Fair' for Ethereum, aiming at  fostering ecosystem progress, collaboration, and most importantly: adoption.  We want to create a Schelling point where the community and newcomers can gather to learn about, showcase, and experience real-world Ethereum applications.

We want to support an ecosystem-wide effort and contribute to the local communities' goal to make Argentina the crypto capital of the world. We hope the broader Ethereum ecosystem can work together with the local ecosystem to move the country toward greater Ethereum adoption. **For a look at our previous Devconnect editions: in Amsterdam in April 2022, see here: https://devconnect.org/amsterdam; and Istanbul in November 2023 https://devconnect.org/istanbul.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Ethereum and can help us identify and support quality initiatives in Argentina—both in the lead-up to and around Devconnect.

This role has four main aspects:

1. Ethereum Ecosystem Growth in Argentina. Contribute to a broader effort to bring Argentina on-chain, beyond Devconnect. We want you to help accelerate Ethereum adoption by fostering connections and relationships with local municipalities, policymakers, institutions, applications, and communities. This includes facilitating collaborations between traditional organizations and Ethereum-based applications, onboarding local merchants to accept stablecoins, initiating pilot programs, and more.

2. Supporting the Ecosystem priorto Devconnect. You will support grassroots community efforts, educational meetups, and other initiatives across Argentina. Your role involves researching existing initiatives, identifying key locations, groups, and leaders, and helping us determine the best ways to support these efforts.

3. Engaging the Argentine Community in Devconnect. We want the local community to be actively involved and well-represented at Devconnect. This includes:

i) featuring local projects, applications and speakers into Devconnect,

ii) making events accessible through ticket discounts and increased awareness,

iii) encouraging collaboration among local and global communities, and

iv) increasing attendance from Argentina, focusing on newcomers

Your role will be to identify and connect with the communities we want represented at Devconnect.

4. Helping Our Global Community Prepare for Argentina. Devconnect will bring people from around the world to Argentina. You will help ensure they are informed and prepared to make the most of their visit—both during Devconnect and if they choose to stay longer.

We have ambitious goals for Devconnect’s positive impact on Argentina, and your role will be key in helping us achieve them.

The Successful Applicant Will Be:

Motivated

  • Enthusiastic about Ethereum and the positive impact it can bring.

  • Passionate about building, strengthening, and collaborating with the Argentine Ethereum community.

  • A long-term thinker, focused on creating lasting impact and understanding that we are still early in this movement.

  • Willing to assist the broader Devconnect team as needed, even on tasks outside this direct role—including less glamorous logistical or on-the-ground production-related efforts.

Qualified

  • Based in Argentina and flexible to travel within the region.

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).

  • Familiar with and actively involved in the Argentine Ethereum ecosystem and community.

  • Deeply knowledgeable about Ethereum, its use cases, values, and the impact we aim to achieve.

  • Self-directed: capable of taking on tasks with minimal guidance, expanding on them appropriately, and seeing them through to completion.

  • Experience in participating in and/or organizing events or conferences is a plus.

Available

  • Exact time commitment can be discussed, but we estimate this role to be full-time until Devconnect

  • This is a contractor-style role where you will bill based on the number of hours worked, which may vary month-to-month.

  • Able to meet and respond to messages at varying hours to accommodate a globally distributed remote team across multiple time zones (primarily the Americas and Europe).

  • Have a valid passport and the ability to travel to Buenos Aires for Devconnect in November 2024, as well as other community events worldwide and in Argentina

After 1 month in this position…

  • You have contacted and established relationships with key leaders of various communities in Argentina.

  • You are familiar with the existing relationships we have built and are supporting in Argentina.

  • You understand Devconnect, the team, and the event plan, and you have begun brainstorming ways to involve the regional community in Devconnect.

  • You have adopted all project management and communication tools used by our team (Notion, Telegram, Discord, Google Docs, Cryptdrive, etc.).

  • You have developed strong relationships with the entire Devconnect team, have a clear understanding of the various initiatives within the ecosystem.

Notes

  • Our team and this position are fully remote (except being in-person during Devconnect).

  • It will be important to be willing to have some meetings very early in the morning or late at night, as our team is all located in different time zones.
