About Megaport

We’re not your typical tech company – and we don’t want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We’re publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 350 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.

Our Team Culture

We’re a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone’s voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, and working closely with the other members of the team, will provide general legal advice and support to the Megaport group of companies (Group) and assist the Group’s daily business activities. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and negotiating master agreements, providing training and support to the global sales team, reviewing commercial contracts, PR announcements, drafting policies and other documentation, supporting legal operations initiatives and supporting the Chief Legal Officer and broader legal team on specific projects and tasks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide general legal advice on a variety of areas to support the Group’s daily business activities, including but not limited to sales and supplier agreement review and negotiation, corporate obligations, employee related matters, and regulatory and legal compliance matters.

  • Assist with the resolution of disputes that arise from time to time.

  • Supporting team legal operations initiatives, including by identifying and developing solutions for efficiency and cohesion between teams.

  • Support special projects as directed by the Chief Legal Officer and Senior Legal Counsel.

  • Assist with the review of advertising and promotional material including, Megaport’s websites, online publications, new service information and campaign materials.

  • Review new legislation and regulatory changes and communicate potential impact to the business.

  • Provide advice on regulatory and compliance issues.

  • Be a strong ambassador for the legal team across the business.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2 - 4 years experience in contract review and negotiation of technology agreements and business-related legal assistance.

  • Prior in-house experience/ exposure to the technology industry (especially data centers and/or in a sales-based organization) preferred (but not essential).

  • English language fluency.

  • Active bar license in the jurisdiction you’re located in.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with a strong bias for practical and commercial advice - ‘plain english’ drafting is essential.

  • Privacy, information security, and regulatory experience/exposure are highly regarded.

  • Employment law experience or exposure is good to have, but not necessary.

  • Ability to work with stakeholders across multiple global teams with a high degree of independence and autonomy.

  • High level of integrity and professional accountability required.

  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated ability to deliver practical and commercial advice while managing risk.

  • A natural relationship builder, with the ability to engage with all kinds of individuals, building trust and respect with ease.

  • Collaborative team player, eager to learn and share knowledge with the wider team.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities - different matters, jurisdictions and timezones, set clear expectations and shift to meet deadlines.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working environment – a remote-first culture with coworking options available

  • Generous leave plans – including 4 weeks of paid annual leave, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program

  • Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives

  • Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus paid study leave

  • Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you're not working remotely

  • Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent

  • Recognition programs – celebrate achievements with our Legend and Kudos awards

  • For U.S. employees – access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k) plan
