Global Payroll Manager (U.S. EST Remote)
Degreed is seeking a Global Payroll Manager to manage payroll across our U.S. and international locations. This remote position must be based in the U.S. EST time zone and requires collaboration with other time zones in supported countries.
Day in the Life
Manage Global payroll and oversee monthly and semi-monthly payroll processing across several countries within NAMER, EMEA, and APAC.
Proactively ensure accurate and seamless execution of payroll processes
Manage payroll vendors and oversee semi-monthly and/or monthly payroll processing across international locations
Act as the ‘go-to’ person for employees in international offices for all payroll queries. Respond to employee questions promptly
Lead vendor check-in calls and own international vendor relationships
Provide prompt, helpful support for international payroll inquiries and proactively resolve any concerns
Ensure accurate data reporting and prepare or support the preparation of monthly payroll journal entries, working closely with the Finance team to ensure proper accounting treatment and timely reconciliation
Process employee status changes, new hires, terminations, and payroll data information across the HRIS system, Hibob, and the payroll system, ADP
Review payroll reports for accuracy and reconcile any pay data discrepancies or errors
Ensure payroll vendors and appropriate parties (People Team, Finance) adhere to payroll deadlines
Ensure compliance via secure internal controls and ensure reliable payroll data at all times
Work with the People Operations Team to ensure accurate employee data is maintained in the HRIS system, Hibob
Clear and timely communicator with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, and external payroll providers.
Optimize payroll processes, driving efficiencies and improving employee experience.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with global payroll regulations.
Support the Finance team by running reports upon request and assisting with various audit requests.
Compile data for quarterly and year-end processing to ensure compliance with reporting requirements for each country.
Manage vendors to ensure payroll taxes, social security, etc., are submitted for each state within required timelines.
Who You Are
Minimum of 7 years of experience managing and administering a full payroll offering in the United States, which includes processing payroll, providing payroll oversight
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation in multiple states
Flexible and adaptable, with a strong willingness to work varied hours to effectively collaborate with and support global teams across multiple time zones
Working knowledge of tax and statutory deductions
Experience working with and managing local vendor relationships, including payroll, benefits, tax, pension, etc.
Experience working with a Finance/Accounting team of daily.
Collaborative problem-solvers with a positive attitude and a strong sense of ownership over all U.S. payroll responsibilities
Familiarity with the year-end process and procedures for different states
Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced, start-up environment
A self-starter with a proven ability to work independently
Analytical mindset and ability to evaluate processes considering all states
Proficient in utilizing different HRIS and payroll software and vendors (ADP, BlueMarble, BDO strongly preferred)
Open to new ideas and committed to continued learning and personal development
Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven, you deliver high-quality work that sets the standard
Flexible and adaptable, with a strong willingness to work varied hours to effectively collaborate with and support global teams across multiple time zones
Compensation
We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The total pay range for this role is $120,000 - $143,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
