What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

The Global Head of Advertising and Creative Operations will play a pivotal role in shaping the creative direction of Canva’s brand and ensuring the delivery of exceptional creative work across all media. You will be responsible for overseeing our in-house agency operations and external agency relationships.

This role combines creative operations leadership with advertising execution expertise, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of creative work across performance, brand advertising, content, social, lifecycle marketing, and more.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and working in close partnership with the Executive Creative Director and the Marketing Leadership team, this position requires deep expertise in creative strategy, operations, agency management, and advertising execution.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Providing strategic leadership for Canva’s advertising, leading our award-winning in-house creative agency and roster of external agency partners, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and business objectives.

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the creative agency, including budget management, staffing, and resource allocation, and partnering closely with our ECD on creative direction.

  • Collaborate with marketing leadership to integrate creative strategies into the broader business plan.

  • Develop and implement systems and processes for global creative production and delivery in 14+ markets, and across consumer, enterprise, and education segments.

  • Drive operational efficiency while maintaining creative excellence.

  • Optimize resource allocation and capacity planning across creative teams.

  • Ensuring effective execution of creative strategy across all advertising initiatives.

  • Maintaining creative quality and consistency across channels and markets.

  • Leading the selection and implementation of creative and advertising technology solutions.

  • Managing the creative technology stack in partnership with our Head of Marketing Technology.

  • Driving automation and efficiency through technology and staying at the forefront of new technologies (AI, automation, etc.).

  • Ensure effective digital asset management and creative workflow systems.

  • Build and lead high-performing creative operations teams.

  • Developing clear roles and responsibilities across creative production teams. 

You're probably a match if you have:

  • A wealth of experience in creative operations and advertising.

  • Proven track record managing in-house creative teams and agency relationships.

  • Strong background in creative production, budgeting, and project management.

  • Experience implementing and optimizing creative operations.

  • History of building efficient creative delivery systems.

  • Technical literacy and understanding of creative technologies.

  • A proven leader, capable of hiring, developing, and retaining world-class sales talent.
