Gaming Licensing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gaming Licensing Specialist to support Plaid’s Go-To-Market (GTM) online gaming segment. In this role, you’ll drive the strategy and execution for gaming licensing and compliance. You’ll play a pivotal role in helping us grow and expand our online gaming segment, ensure we are effectively navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape, and ensure we remain compliant with applicable legal, regulatory, and licensing requirements. You will be a part of Plaid’s Compliance team, which is responsible for ensuring Compliance at Plaid with all the laws and regulations that apply to us, as well as our internal policies. We help make sure Plaid stays within the bounds of our legal obligations, and partner with business stakeholders to build processes and systems to demonstrate our compliance.

The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, inquisitive, and solutions-oriented with strong experience in online gaming licensing and compliance.  This candidate possesses a deep understanding of the online gaming segment, including sports-betting,  iGaming, casino, advanced deposit wagering, and/or daily fantasy sports, and the applicable requirements of the multiple jurisdictions that oversee those segments.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategy and execution for gaming licensing and compliance.

  • Develop, implement, and manage the gaming compliance program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions including obtaining new licenses, understanding license requirement variations across Plaid’s products, and keeping abreast of state licensing requirements.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with State, Federal, and Tribal Gaming Regulatory Agencies, handling all licensing and related compliance matters.

  • Research and document operational license requirements, tracking license applications, renewals, and approvals.

  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of licensing and approval requests to relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Provide guidance and support to Key Employees completing individual gaming license applications.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes, proactively updating internal policies, and procedures to remain compliant in current and expanding markets.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years as a gaming licensing manager or specialist, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with casino/online gaming licensing requirements across a number of gaming verticals (e.g., iGaming, sports betting, casino, DFS, ADW, poker). Strong preference for candidates with experience in obtaining gaming licenses in various jurisdictions. 

  • Experience working for a licensed gaming vendor, supplier, service provider or operator.  

  • Strong understanding of licensing and regulatory requirements in the gaming and betting industry.

  • Experience navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.

  • A team player: there is no task too big or too small; you can roll up your sleeves and get things navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.

  • High EQ and low ego; you have a strong desire to grow and learn, and a deep commitment to your teammates

  • Comfortable rolling up their sleeves and diving into the details of individual processes and customers.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Enjoy a fast-paced working environment.

$111,240 - $152,280 a year

Target base salary for this role is between $111,240 and $152,280 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location. Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.
