Scopely is looking for a highly motivated Game Designer to join the Marvel Strike Force team on a remote U.S. basis.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in creating RPG or strategy game content and systems for free-to-play mobile games. A strong understanding of the interplay between game balance, narrative, and aesthetics in crafting compelling gameplay is crucial. The candidate should also be an avid player of RPGs, strategy games, and character collector games across both mobile and other platforms.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers developing, publishing, and innovating the gaming industry, connecting millions of people worldwide daily.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the creation of mission content (narrative missions, PVE campaigns, raids, late-game content) from initial concept to final playtesting and refinement.

  • Develop character dialogue and narrative elements for game events and missions.

  • Clearly communicate and promote content designs across all relevant teams to ensure a shared understanding of the vision.

  • Partner with Live Operations and Product Management to design compelling and effective playable content.

  • Collaborate with game designers, UX designers, artists, and engineers to deliver mission content that aligns with the game's creative vision.

  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of player experiences across various game systems.

  • Conduct appropriate research of Marvel IP to guarantee an authentic player experience.

  • Help foster a positive team environment and champion the creation of engaging and enjoyable player experiences as a design advocate.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in developing mission/encounter/quest content, particularly for mobile games or other live-operated games.

  • Comprehensive understanding of social, mobile, and free-to-play game systems and economies.

  • Knowledge of the game design process, encompassing player engagement, narrative design, combat structure, pacing, encounter difficulty tuning, and testing.

  • Ability to critically evaluate content designs, provide constructive feedback and guidance to other designers, and assess and prioritize feedback from various disciplines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clearly pitching game design concepts.

  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong understanding of collaboration and effective communication across all disciplines and departments.

  • Positive, solution-focused attitude and a passion for the player experience, with broad knowledge of diverse game genres.

  • Proven ability to learn and master new tools and techniques.

Bonus:

  • Experience playing Marvel Strike Force, with a strong understanding of end-game content.

  • Familiarity with the Unity Engine, including knowledge of scripting or programming languages (preferred).

  • Proven ability in storytelling and dialogue writing.

  • Deep passion for the Marvel Universe (comics and movies).

  • Experience shipping or supporting live operations for free-to-play mobile games developed in Unity.

  • Experience working with licensed IP.

For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA, the annual salary range is provided below. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for equity, bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time off.
