What we’re looking for
We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning Consultant with CFO and Non-Executive Director (NED) experience to conduct a full review of our financial processes and outputs—particularly focused on our Profit & Loss (P&L) tracking, Sales Pipeline, Sales Forecasting, and Actuals vs Forecast analysis. You will be responsible for identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and advising on best practices for setting up a more robust financial planning and reporting structure that is scalable.
Responsibilities
• Conduct a full diagnostic review of our current financial spreadsheets and
reporting processes with our Finance & Operations Team.
• Assess accuracy, consistency, and usability of our:
oP&L tracking
oSales pipeline and forecast
oActuals vs predicted performance
oCost tracking and forecasting methods
• Identify key weaknesses, inefficiencies, and risks in our current approach.
• Evaluate and challenge current pricing, utilisation and profitability models
• Advise and inform on a clear and actionable roadmap to improve financial planning and forecasting accuracy.
• Recommend tools, processes or systems (e.g. moving beyond spreadsheets, introducing lightweight forecasting software) tailored to a company of our size and maturity
Recruitment
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or NEDwithin services-based businesses - ideally within growth-stage or SME environments.
- Strong experience in diagnosing and improving financial systems where spreadsheet-based processes are in place.
- Demonstrable expertise in forecasting, modelling, and building scalable financial frameworks.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset and the ability to communicate clearly with non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong grasp of commercial models, pricing and utilisation in professional services (preferably digital, marketing technology, or consulting sectors)
- Experience in advising or supporting founder-led businesses through scale-up or transformation.
Commitment
- 2 days per month, typically on a fortnightly basis.
- Duration: Open-ended, with potential flexibility for deeper engagement on an ad-hoc basis if required.

- Honest and constructive feedback on where we are going wrong.
- Practical, cost-effective recommendations on how to improve.
- Tangible improvements in our ability to plan, predict, and track financial performance.
