Introducing Masabi

// At Masabi, we’re driving the fare payment revolution, powering the journeys of millions all over the world. We build fare collection platforms that allow riders to seamlessly buy and present tickets for public transport either on their mobile phones, from a ticket machine, or even by tapping their bank card to travel.

Our Justride platform is used in over 250 locations globally, including some of the largest cities in the world. With our industry-first mobile ticketing SDK, we’ve partnered with large players in the transport space, including Uber, Moovit and Transit.

Your own journey is important to us too. Choosing a role here means joining a network of innovators from all walks of life; a group of passionate individuals who consistently deliver. Here, you’ll find the tools you need to build the career you want. Whether you’re taking the direct route or trying a new path, we’ll support you no matter what.

The Role_

// As an Engineering Manager in our growing Colombia hub, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our engineering team. You’ll lead and support a team of 10+ engineers, working closely with peers and technical leads across the UK, Romania, and other locations. This is an opportunity to join an established local team and help take it to the next level, driving performance, culture, and collaboration across borders.

This is a technical leadership role focused on growing people, driving delivery, and enabling engineering excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing_

Leading delivery and driving outcomes:

  • Own the key rituals of your team’s delivery lifecycle, from sprint planning and stand-ups to retrospectives and releases. You’ll shape these ceremonies to fit your team and grow others to lead them over time.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers to shape backlogs, estimate work, and align on delivery timelines and expectations.

  • Work cross-functionally with other Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Program Managers to align delivery efforts and technical decisions across teams.

  • Champion operational excellence, ensuring reliability, uptime, and responsiveness of your team’s systems.

Supporting and developing your team:

  • Coach and empower your engineers, helping them grow through 1:1s, feedback, and development planning.

  • Foster an inclusive, supportive team culture where people feel safe, trusted, and motivated to do their best work.

  • Manage holidays, expenses, and team budgets, but more importantly, be present and available for your people.

  • Lead local hiring efforts and contribute to building a world-class team culture from the ground up.

Representing your team:

  • Share progress in engineering-wide reviews and collaborate in multi-team planning sessions.

  • Provide visibility into delivery status and operational metrics.

  • Participate in cross-functional rituals and advocate for your team’s needs and contributions.

What We’re Looking For_

// We don’t expect everyone to tick every box, but here’s what success might look like in this role:

  • Strong English communication skills, you’ll work with teams across multiple time zones.

  • A background as a senior or lead software engineer, with backend experience, ideally in Java and/or Kotlin.

  • Experience working on SaaS products, especially in fast-moving product companies.

  • Proven leadership of engineering teams (10+ people) in an Agile environment.

  • Comfort with end-to-end delivery responsibility, from planning to execution to operations.

  • Exposure to or interest in scaleups/startups, you thrive in dynamic environments.

  • Debate with respect - they create space for healthy challenges and learning.

  • Share knowledge generously - they help others succeed, and move forward together.

  • Embrace feedback - they celebrate wins and own mistakes without blame.

// You’ll be the standard bearer for what great looks like, not just in delivery, but in how we show up for each other, grow our culture, and make a difference.

Some of our benefits_

  • Competitive salary package

  • 15 days paid vacation for each year of service plus 18 public holidays

  • Private Healthcare

  • Monthly team bonding allowance

  • Menopause support

  • Choice of a workstation

  • Fun and collaborative environment with a focus on making a difference in the world

// In addition to the above, as an employee, you will also have access to a training allowance of up to $750 USD and $250 USD to spend on your home office every year.
