About the job

This position is needed to provide strategic and administrative oversight of risk-based safety and security programs for Twilio global offices, worldwide corporate events, and global health & safety. This team is evolving to meet the needs of an open work environment which creates unique challenges. We are looking for an experienced, critically-thinking, and strategic leader to optimize our resources and develop strategies to strengthen our existing foundation to support the needs of a multinational business. This means bringing in broad knowledge of intelligence-driven physical safety and security programs to strategically lead, operationalize, and optimize our state of readiness. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Corporate Safety & Security.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll lead:

Global Security Services 

  • Establish and maintain programs and processes that provide for a visible, positive, safe and secure presence throughout Twilio, including direct oversight of all regional security programs, global health & safety, and corporate event security programs 

  • Ensure consistent delivery of all programs impacting people, facilities, processes, or technology

  • Facilitate global security training and awareness by creating and delivering employee-facing content, to include videos, infographics, and other products

  • Lead the workplace violence prevention program to include ensuring compliance and refining governance, response to, and management of potential workplace violence threats

  • Directly interface and communicate with key executives and executive support teams as  the primary security point of contact for providing security guidance, travel support, and personalized assessment of risk  

  • Utilize intelligence products and data-driven risk assessments to formulate business decisions, risk reduction strategies, and practical control measures

Environmental Health & Safety (HHS)

  • Provide people and program management of the global health & safety team

  • Establish and update GHS policy, Injury Illness Prevention Plan, and other foundational EHS program governance

  • Ensure EHS program is both legally compliant and focused on providing safe and healthy workspaces to Twillions around the globe

  • Direct worksite assessments

  • Implement and oversee hazard prevention and control programs

Risk Management

  • Establish and update governance documents to ensure comprehensive and standardized guidance on regional security matters are applied globally

  • Coordinate with physical security peers on planning efforts for new office and data center design, expansions, conversions, and restructuring to ensure compliance with physical security standards and requirements

  • Establish the site risk/security assessment program to include creating assessment frameworks, tiering levels, and reports covering corporate properties 

  • Provide timely response to emerging threats, risks, life safety and security incidents so informed decisions can be made to protect company personnel, assets, reputation, and operations

  • Oversee contracts for physical security provider selection from RFP development through contract negotiation, training, analysis, and execution 

  • Oversee security budget development, management, and reporting and drive cost and operational efficiency through the program as it scales, while continuously innovating

  • Proactively identify security requirements, problems, and sound solutions to successfully sustain and enhance program execution

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with internal partners and external vendors and contractors to heighten awareness and engagement

Awareness & Partnership

  • Serve as the liaison between cross-functional team leads to promote change management 

  • Identify and create compelling, consumable, and targeted education and awareness training content that can be leveraged to increase employee’s physical security literacy and maturity. This will require the creation of content - from concept to writing, editing, uploading, and publishing across multiple channels.

  • Assist in the development of meaningful metrics and KPIs that drive ability to create security awareness baselines, identify high-risk populations for further training, measure the effectiveness of engagement campaigns and training content, and provide reporting for executive management and security audits

*Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in security, safety, or risk management leadership or equivalent security, military, or law enforcement operations with emphasis in EHS

  • 8+ years of experience developing professionals within the area of specialization

  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. and global EHS legal and regulatory guidelines

  • Broad understanding of Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), ISO27001, and critical infrastructure protection requirements, physical security technology controls, innovative mitigation tactics, and applicable regulatory requirements

  • Experience interfacing and collaborating with executives, peers, regulatory agencies, and external clients to develop solutions and gain consensus

  • Experience conceptualizing and executing on numerous initiatives and balancing competing priorities

  • Experience and in-depth understanding of sourcing and procurement models, tools, processes, and policies in a program/project/contract manager role 

Desired:

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of ISO 45001

  • Licenses or certifications in Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Ability to identify root cause and solve complex problems

  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $167,000 - $209,000

  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $177,000 - $222,000

  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $197,000 - $246,000

  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
