As a key member of the Global Communications Corporate Brand team, the Director, Global Operations Communications will lead the development and execution of communications supporting the Global Quality Organization and Global Supply Organization. This individual will help the organization continue to champion a culture of quality at operations sites and deliver communications that inspire, connect, and reinforce the critical role these functions play in Viatris’ success.

This person reports to the Head of Global Commercial, R&D and Operations communications and is a strategic advisor to the broader Corporate Affairs team on quality, manufacturing and supply-related communications. While this role does not have direct reports, it requires strong leadership and influence across a global network of colleagues within Operations, Quality, Human Relations, Global Communications and Corporate Brand and Corporate Affairs.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and review content that supports and values a culture of quality, safety, compliance and customer service.

  • Develop an Operations Communications Council, bringing together key communicators across operations sites to drive employee engagement and share best practice to enhance communications efforts in supporting the business.

  • Develop strategies to better reach and communicate to Operations employees in an effective manner.

  • Leverage metrics to track success and apply continuous improvement to communications based on insights gained.

  • Develop and execute communications plans for the Chief Supply Officer and the Chief Quality Officer to drive engagement, visibility and connection with colleagues.

  • Provide communications counsel and support for a variety of operations communications needs, including leadership and operations messages, assisting with background for media inquiries, and proactively seeking updates and sharing relevant information with Global Communications and Corporate Affairs leadership. 

  • Support select communication activities related to environmental, health and safety initiatives impacting operations sites.

  • Provide strategic counsel and develop communications to support organizational announcements, restructuring activities, divestitures and integrations to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruptions.

  • Equip leaders within the Global Supply Organization and Global Quality Organization with tools/messages to effectively communicate and engage their teams.

  • Stay informed of manufacturing and supply chain industry news and advise how it could impact communications internally and externally.

  • Provide prompt and appropriate internal/external communications support in the event of a crisis, working with operations leaders and Global Communications and Corporate Brand and Corporate Affairs.

  • Proactively prepare for known issues to mitigate impact and continue to refine issues management response strategy.

  • Assist with video/photo shoots to capture assets that showcase our state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities.

  • Travel, as needed, to foster relationships and enhance understanding of operations sites globally.

  • Ensure adherence to evolving corporate narrative through external communications review process and other avenues.

  • Ensure brand standards for look/feel and tone are all upheld within our team and the broader company globally.

  • Serve as a collaborative partner to other communications and key operations professionals globally.

  • Lead the communications team in thinking proactively and strategically, leveraging external benchmarking and best practices to build a best-in-class Global Communications Corporate Brand organization with the resources we have.

  • Promote and support Viatris’ commitment to high standards of corporate compliance, quality, safety and ethics, and live and model Viatris’ core values.

  • Leverage analytics to generate insight and identify areas of opportunity and track performance of impact of messaging

  • Provide the intellectual leadership, perspective and experience to encourage creative thinking around communications issues, continuous learning for all employees and energy to continue to grow and expand the business globally.

  • This role has remote flexibility with preference to be based from a US East Coast or Dublin, Ireland location.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Specialization in communications is preferred.   

  • 5-10 years’ experience in communications required.

  • 5-10 years’ in the pharmaceuticals or healthcare industry preferred.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $236,000 USD.
