LinOS is Lineage’s Industrial Operating System, a cutting-edge platform integrating warehouse management, warehouse control, and automation to ultimately optimize operations across our 400+ global warehouses.

This platform is composed of several, tightly integrated applications, including a proprietary warehouse management system (WMS), a proprietary warehouse control system (WCS), a collection of next-generation mobile and web applications, an array of advanced decision-making algorithms, and an API/coordination layer to ensure that all these components can communicate and coordinate effectively.

The result is LinOS—a system-directed warehouse execution system that is intended to improve the efficiency and productivity of our warehouse operations. 

Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and maintaining critical applications and integrations within the LinOS ecosystem. This role requires a highly technical leader who can drive engineering excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and scalable solutions. In this role, your will be at the center of LinOS development, helping to ensure the platform’s overall reach, impact, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead and mentor internal and external engineering teams.

  • Drive technical execution and ensure engineering decisions align with business objectives.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.

  • Partner with Product Management, Data Science, and Operations to align on priorities and deliverables.

Technical Execution & Architecture:

  • Own the development of mobile apps, web apps, APIs, and backend services.

  • Ensure seamless integration between WMS, WCS, and automation algorithms.

  • Participate in technical design reviews, debugging, and data modeling discussions.

  • Drive sound engineering practices and technical decision-making.

Scalability & Growth:

  • Support the expansion of LinOS to additional warehouses.

  • Balance speed vs. long-term system stability when making technical trade-offs.

  • Improve engineering processes and SDLC efficiencies.

  • Maintain accountability for a $30M+ annual technology budget.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience & Background:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading teams.

  • Proven experience in large-scale, complex development for multi-system software builds.

  • Strong technical architecture and software design experience.

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed engineering teams.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, cloud-based architectures.

  • Prior experience with high-scale platforms (1K+ users, distributed systems).

  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot system-wide issues (hands-on in problem-solving).

  • Familiarity with modern development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps best practices).

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Strong cross-team collaboration skills (must work closely with Product, WMS, WCS, Data Science, etc.).

  • Ability to drive consensus on technical solutions across different stakeholder groups.

  • Effective communicator, capable of influencing without direct authority.
