Director - Engineering, Identity & Product Safety
As the head of Identity, Product Safety and compliance, you will play a pivotal role in directing Pinterest's vision and collaborating with sub-team leaders to improve and build scalable and stable engineering systems. You will have a broad scope of responsibilities, including leading areas related to authentication, authorization, account security, bot detection, age verification and privacy compliance, product safety features, teen safety etc. You'll consistently work closely with stakeholders across Pinterest, not only to shape the technical strategy, but also to identify problems and propose innovative solutions, subsequently ensuring their successful implementation. What you'll do:
Set up the long-term technical vision and strategy for Identity & Product Safety, aligning it with the Pinterest’s mission and goals, and proactively identify areas for technical innovation and improvement
Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders across the organization to architect the Identity and compliance infrastructure solutions to enable user trust while reducing friction for growing user base.
Define and influence architectural and strategic direction for the Pinterest platform.
Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of sophisticated systems.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering teams, promoting knowledge sharing, mentoring, and professional development.
Grow a fast growing engineering organization, setting the technical vision, leading the day-to-day execution, as well as fostering good team health and culture.
Modernize the Identity infrastructure for the entire Pinterest platform to achieve high reliability, scalability, efficiency, and developer velocity.
Carve out a Product Safety strategy that differentiates Pinterest from other platforms in terms of perceived safety by users.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience as an engineering manager, with experience managing managers.
10+ years of industry experience in large-scale distributed systems, relational and non-relational datastores, and system programming.
Experience in building frictionless Identity and compliance platforms to enable both user growth and user trust.
Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration1-2 times per half and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
