About This Role

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive local listings specialist to manage and optimize our presence across Yelp, Nextdoor, Thumbtack, and other relevant local listing platforms (such as Facebook Business, Apple Maps, and community directories). This role plays a critical part in our local growth strategy—driving lead volume, managing customer engagement, improving our online reputation, and ensuring our sales and customer service teams follow up on every opportunity efficiently.

Role & Responsibilities

Profile Management & Optimization

  • Claim, verify, and maintain business profiles on Yelp, Nextdoor, Thumbtack, and local directories such as Facebook Business and Apple Maps. Ensure all listings are complete, consistent, and optimized, including accurate business info, services, categories, visuals, and hours.

  • Maintain listing accuracy across aggregator platforms (e.g., Yext, BrightLocal, or similar tools).

  • Track and manage profile performance metrics on each platform.

Lead & Message Handling

  • Monitor and respond to inbound leads, inquiries, and review messages across all platforms daily.

  • Coordinate with sales and CX teams to ensure timely, consistent follow-up within established SLAs.

  • Identify and escalate communication gaps or missed opportunities.

  • Develop messaging templates and SOPs for efficient lead handling.

  • Collaborate with the sales team to evaluate lead quality and conversion per platform.

Content & Reputation Management

  • Publish platform-specific updates, promotions, and service highlights.

  • Professionally respond to customer reviews, reinforcing a positive brand voice. Collaborate with CX to resolve negative feedback and recover dissatisfied customers.

  • Run simple A/B tests on post types, offers, and messaging to enhance engagement.

Yelp Ads Collaboration

  • Partner with our Yelp Ads agency to manage budget pacing, ad creative, and campaign performance.

  • Ensure campaigns align with local marketing goals and reflect current promotions.

  • Track ad ROI and share performance feedback regularly.

Local Listings & Market Research

  • Monitor competitor activity and reputation on Yelp, Nextdoor, Thumbtack, and local directories. Use tools like iSpionage, Eclincher, and native platform analytics to track positioning and content trends.

  • Provide recommendations for improving visibility, messaging, and customer engagement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales and CX teams to ensure consistent lead handling workflows. Use automation tools like Zapier or integrations with CRM software to streamline processes.

  • Provide insight-driven process improvements based on customer behavior and platform dynamics.

Reporting & Insights

  • Maintain weekly performance dashboards covering lead volume, platform ROI, and engagement rates.

  • Identify underperforming areas and propose actionable improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years managing local business profiles and lead messaging on Yelp, Nextdoor, or Thumbtack

  • Experience working with or supporting Yelp Ads or other local paid media

  • Strong understanding of local marketing, customer communication, and reputation management

  • Excellent written English and customer-facing messaging skills

  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple platforms and priorities

  • Comfortable working remotely and independently with at least 4 hours of overlap with U.S. hours

  • Collaborative mindset and experience working with sales or customer service teams

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Yelp for Business, Nextdoor Business, and Thumbtack Pro dashboards

  • Familiarity with tools like Eclincher, Podium, BirdEye, and iSpionage

  • Experience supporting paid media campaigns in collaboration with an agency

  • Background in local SEO, listings management, or local marketplace lead gen

  • Experience working with U.S.-based companies or clients
