An overview of this role

As a Developer Relations Program Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading the successful implementation of our Education program. This role focuses on supporting educators, students, and academic institutions by helping them experience GitLab’s vision of a world where everyone can contribute. You will serve as the primary advocate for the education community within our organization, while ensuring alignment with broader Developer Relations and Marketing goals.

Our Education program provides free access to our Ultimate platform for qualifying educational institutions, along with specialized educational resources, initiatives, and community support. As part of the Contributor Success team, you will drive growth in awareness, adoption and contributions within this community. You will thrive to be a recognised member of the education community, fostering meaningful relationships that help students and educators succeed.

What You’ll Do  

  • Develop and lead the successful implementation of the projects and initiatives within the Developer Relations Education Program

  • Create, report, and iterate on the relevant key performance indicators to effectively measure impact

  • Ensure alignment with the broader Developer Relations team, Marketing, and other stakeholders in the Product and Sales organization

  • Continuously identify improvements to the program to increase its efficiency and effectiveness

  • Actively seek, gather and action feedback from the community and internal stakeholders 

  • Own end-to-end program operations, identify opportunities to streamline processes and leverage automation 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • You have 3-5 years of experience building and scaling developer relations or community, preferably in education or open source contexts.

  • Deep understanding of academic environments, including familiarity with educational workflows, semester cycles, and institutional decision-making processes.

  • Self-directed and work with minimal supervision.

  • Analytical and data-driven approach to community building and program optimization.

  • You thrive at creating and improving replicable, scalable processes.

  • Collaborative mindset with strong cross-functional partnership skills

  • Interest or familiarity with developer tools and software development lifecycle.

  • You share our values, and work in accordance with those values.
