Database Architect IV
Position Summary
SQL Database Architect will be responsible for creating and debugging SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views. This role involves executing database structure and data enhancement scripts, designing databases to meet development goals, and optimizing system performance through index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods. Additionally, the administrator will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain database systems, including replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access, while managing user privileges.
Essential Tasks
Collaborate with the design and development team to create database designs that meet specified requirements
Perform database modeling and effectively communicate schema structures to development staff
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of relational database concepts and techniques, implementing them using SQL DDL
Gather requirements from software product managers and architects and design relational database objects to meet software goals
Update and maintain databases utilized by product development staff across multiple versions of Jenzabar software
Work with the Quality Assurance team to test and verify database changes for releases
Provide support to resolve complex database issues in the customer base
Assist the data services team with technical issues related to data conversions
Stay informed on upcoming versions of Microsoft SQL Server and evaluate potential impacts on Jenzabar software
Essential Skills
Proficiency in SQL DML, DDL, and DCL commands
Strong coding skills in triggers, views, and stored procedures, including code optimization
Ability to design and code complex procedures, triggers, and views
Extensive knowledge of SQL database administration tasks and database delivery concepts
Experience deploying databases in multi-server environments, with hundreds of client systems
Expertise in creating and managing SQL permissions
Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases
Preferred Skills & Experience
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience managing production databases in high-availability environments is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server database administration, including scripting for SQL environment management
Strong experience in writing complex T-SQL statements, stored procedures, triggers, and views
Ability to assist development staff in optimizing SQL queries for system performance
Experience with data import/export, data conversions, and database patch applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with development staff and clients of varying technical expertise
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and track tasks effectively while meeting project deadlines
Desirable experience includes PowerBuilder, Microsoft Active Directory, and working in an academic environment or with higher education software
The pay range for this position is $80,000-93,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus in addition to a full range of benefits.
