As our Data Governance Specialist, you’ll be a key player in building a community of data stewards, improving data quality, and driving consistency across Pax8. You’ll work cross-functionally to bridge the gap between data producers, consumers, and engineering teams — helping everyone speak the same data language.
This is a strategic, high-impact role where you’ll influence without authority, create forums for knowledge sharing, and help embed best practices into the daily rhythms of teams across the business.
What You’ll Do
🧭 Lead Data Stewardship Build and operate a cross-functional data stewardship community. Onboard stewards, facilitate working sessions, and promote best practices.
🛠️ Resolve Data Quality Issues Investigate and document data quality challenges. Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and engineers to drive resolution.
📚 Enhance Metadata & Catalogs Define standards for business terms, data definitions, and lineage. Influence adoption across business and technical teams.
🔐 Support Compliance & Security Align with InfoSec, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance teams to operationalize controls that meet regulatory obligations.
What You Bring
6+ years in data governance, stewardship, or data management.
Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, and stewardship principles.
Proficiency in SQL and experience diagnosing data issues across datasets.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Redshift, Snowflake) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
Ability to influence without authority and collaborate across teams.
Excellent communication skills — you translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
Detail-oriented with a passion for data accuracy and consistency.
Bonus Points For
Certifications like CDMP or DGSP.
Experience with tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
Knowledge of data modeling and architecture.
Exposure to Agile or Lean methodologies.

Compensation:
Qualified candidates can expect a compensation range of $112,000/yr to $140,000/yr or more depending on experience.
