About the role

As Compliance Specialist on our Risk Team, you will support the execution and continuous improvement of Cover Genius’s insurance compliance program in the Americas. This role is critical in ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations across the jurisdictions where we operate. You will work with internal teams and external stakeholders to implement best practices, maintain licenses and filings, and uphold our reputation with regulators and partners.To drive success in this role, we are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical self-starter to support our risk and compliance team in ensuring adherence with regulatory standards within the insurance industry. As the Compliance Specialist, you will support the Americas compliance team to ensure the company has adequate procedures and processes established to comply with all laws applicable to the sale and distribution of insurance and service contract products. Our ideal candidate for the Compliance Specialist role will successfully prepare, track and maintain various regulatory filings and reporting, including but not limited to, license applications, renewals and complaints, with minimal supervision. Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and partners will be key in ensuring regulatory compliance within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation and filing of license applications, licensing renewals, and other regulatory filings and reporting.

  • Support the development and maintenance of internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Establish & maintain surplus lines processes and procedures, including submission of state tax filings, broker forms and affidavits. 

  • Assist in preparation of responses to regulatory inquiries, complaints and requests.

  • Maintain compliance calendars and tracking tools to ensure timely submissions and renewals.

  • Assist in the development & delivery of compliance training programs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and support compliant product development and distribution.

  • Participate in internal audits, risk assessments, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Understand regulatory changes and support implementation of projects to maintain compliance across the company.

  • Assist with ad-hoc compliance projects as assigned.

What you will bring

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the insurance, legal, or regulatory environment preferred.

  • Ability to research regulatory requirements applicable to our lines of business and communicate with regulators as required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Gsuite/ Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPointBachelor's degree in a relevant field.

  • A postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable.

  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative to identify and resolve issues independently.

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.

  • Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
