About The Job

The Compensation & Benefits Specialist will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing the company’s global compensation and benefits framework, ensuring fairness, compliance, and alignment with business goals. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the ongoing governance of salary structures, benefits programs, and compensation policies across both freelance and payroll-based entities, supporting a fully remote and internationally distributed workforce.

As a key member of the HR department, this role will report directly to the Head of HR, providing subject matter expertise and operational support in all matters related to compensation, benefits, and total rewards. The Compensation & Benefits Specialist will collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, HR Business Partners, HR Operations, and Operations Management Team to ensure compensation practices are consistent, competitive, and support the company’s global growth strategy and worldwide operations.

While this role does not currently manage a team, it will serve as the internal point of contact for all compensation-related processes and initiatives and will play a strategic role in the design and execution of performance review cycles, offer alignment, and benefits oversight across our international workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and periodically review the global salary structure and salary ranges across multiple countries.

  • Ensure job offers and promotions remain aligned with internal benchmarks and market data.

  • Monitor pay equity and advise on adjustments as needed.

  • Support the performance and salary review process with accurate data and tools.

  • Collaborate with Payroll and Employee Relations Managers to update and administer benefits for freelance and payroll-based entities.

  • Ensure existing benefit offerings remain compliant, competitive, and aligned with local market needs.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external service providers related to employee benefits, such as insurance providers, meal card vendors, and other third-party benefit administrators.

  • Advise Talent Acquisition on offer creation and salary alignment for high-volume operational roles and staff positions. Ensure internal equity and consistency across current and future role types as hiring needs evolve.

  • Partner with HRBPs and Operations to review comp trends, hiring salary for staff positions, retention risks, and headcount planning.

  • Work with HR Operations to ensure accurate and up-to-date C&B data in HR systems.

  • Keep C&B policies up to date in line with business evolution and global best practices.

  • Support internal communication efforts to promote transparency and understanding of total rewards.

  • Lead or support global C&B-related projects, such as salary review process, new payroll set ups or expansions, or C&B audits.

  • Identify opportunities to automate or improve compensation workflows and practices.

About you

  • Located in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, South Africa.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • A relevant certification (e.g., GRP, CCP, or Total Rewards-related credential) is preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Compensation & Benefits, Total Rewards, or a closely related HR function.

  • Proven experience working in a global or multi-country environment, ideally in a remote-first, BPO, or freelance-heavy organization.

  • Demonstrated track record of: Maintaining and updating salary structures and compensation policies; supporting performance-based salary reviews and benchmarking; collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Talent Acquisition, Payroll, and HR Business Partners.

  • Full professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); ability to present to all levels of the organization.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, v-lookup, and data modelling)

  • Working knowledge of HRIS platforms (SAP SuccessFactors is ideal)

  • Experience using compensation benchmarking tools or survey platforms (e.g.,Mercer, Radford, or Payscale) is an advantage

  • Experience in coordinating compensation cycles, managing compensation data, and handling multiple stakeholders across time zones

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and process ownership

  • Basic project management skills: organizing timelines, setting milestones, and collaborating across functions
