Job Description

About the team

We build and lead communications strategies with the goal of positioning Canva as one of the most innovative companies in the world while showcasing the ways we’re empowering millions of people to unlock their creativity and achieve their goals through the power of visual communication.

Our work takes many forms and no two days are ever the same. Your work will reach diverse audiences including our global team, journalists, knowledge workers, consumers, analysts and partners. From managing local agencies to creating and executing large-scale B2C and B2B campaigns or localizing our corporate strategies at a regional level, you'll be responsible for driving brand awareness, adoption, and understanding of Canva in China.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Playing a key role in establishing our communications function in China whilst supporting our international expansion and overall communications strategy as we broaden our program to support priority growth markets.

  • Bringing a local and creative lens while anchoring messaging and execution to our global strategy.

  • You will focus on our communications program across China, executing our global strategy across local markets and supporting our core programs with the help of local agencies.

  • Ensuring a regular drumbeat of communications activity with the goal of driving awareness, adoption, and understanding of Canva in China.

Qualifications

You're probably a match if

  • You have extensive experience leading communications programs across China with experience across both corporate and consumer communications.

  • You can work autonomously while juggling multiple deadlines and managing various stakeholders, including agency partners and influencers.

  • You have a proven track record of managing agency partners in China, as well as a deep understanding of the nuances and cultural intricacies of the local regions

  • You have demonstrated experience influencing stakeholders and adapting global communications strategies to resonate with local market, has established media relationship in China tech, business, design, and marketing verticals, and industry KOLs/KOCs, and digital platforms (WeChat, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, etc.)

  • You have led and executed organizing press events, media briefings, and thought leadership programs to amplify brand’s voice in China’s creative and tech ecosystems.

  • Experience in public policy and crisis communication would be advantageous.

  • Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can champion and evangelize our values and culture –– alignment to these values as well as a genuine interest in our mission and vision is critical for this role.
